  • Hi
not sure how you managed to get the free tea and coffee at St Davids but we have just come back and kids breakfasts are only free if the child is under 5
  • freebiequennie, malamala and sarriep were we all at daventry at the same time lol I really enjoyed it. We had our fair share of free coffee and had a very nice time in the pool and steam room. A member of the health club asked me if i was a member also or just a guest at the hotel as she had never seen it so busy in the pool i didn't tell her i paid £10 for one night! There wasn't anything to do as such in the area but that's because it was the wrong time of year most things didn't open untill march. We found a marsdens tavern pub just down the road and had dinner there.

Sorry to be misleading about the tea and coffee.

We asked for some more sachets in the room and and took the drinks to the lobby.

Didn't realise that other hotels had it on tap.

Well I'm writing from my room in Theobalds Park, Cheshunt! We arrived half an hour ago and so far everything's fine! It seems to be in a great location, VERY close to the motorway to get to London, but in huge, lovely gardens so you'd never know how close the road actually is. OK so it's not a luxury hotel-some of the communal areas are a little tatty, wallpaper peeling off etc, but we paid £10!! What can we expect?? On the other hand, the bar is very modern and looks fab, and most importantly, our room really is lovely! It's very modern, with a huge tv and free high speed internet! I'm currently sitting by the window in our room drinking one of the free-flowing lattes-life's great!

I'll update you if anything changes, but so far so good!! =]

Off to explore now-as hubby says, I can sit glued to MSE when I get home!!!!

Just to add to my above post, we continued to be impressed by Theobalds Park! We really liked the bar-really modern and quite busy with a nice atmosphere. We ate in the bar the first night-lovely bar snacks (and we are picky 'foodies'-if you could see us you'd well believe that-:rotfl: ). The food really was VERY nice. The restaurant has a 'table d'hote' menu which is something like £12 for a main course, but I asked if I could order from it and eat in the bar area instead, as we preferred the relaxed atmoshpere in the bar and couldn't be bothered to change for dinner  which they were happy to accommodate.

Breakfast was equally good. Really fresh food, buffet style, in a really lovely newly refurbished restaurant. And the best thing about brekkie was...they didn't charge us for it!!!!! :D (We didn't tell them either-now that wouldn't have been very money-saving, would it?!! :o )

We went into London one day-fab location for that-it was only 2 mins to the station, £3 car parking for the full day, £7 ish each return to Liverpool St and half an hour's journey in! Topped off with Pizza Express 'Orange Wednesday' meal deal, it was a great day! Also good location for visiting Cambridge-about an hour north for any northerners like us on their way home.

So all in all, we were VERY pleased! The room was lovely, staff very friendly and accommodating (if a little slow on the uptake by not charging us for the brekkie;) ), we loved the bar, fab breakfast and food in general, great touch with the free-flowing coffees, great location, and only a tenner!!!! :T

We booked twice when the deal was on-can't wait to go again in April with my bro and sis-in-law! Staff have arranged for our rooms to be opposite each other and allowed us to choose where we wanted our rooms to be! Bring it on!!!

We took it but didn't need it. Maybe just give them a call in advance, just to double-check your booking? I'm sure it's not necessary, but would give you peace of mind.

They didn't ask for ours when we went.
  • Stayed at Staverton Park 15-19 feb for £10 a night.
we had room 330 on the 1st floor ,very nice and quiet as it was at the end of the corridore WithOut a conference room at the end so you don't have people walking past as it's very busy during the week (there was a job fair going on and a wedding fair in april).
Don't botther with the tea and coffee station in reception which seemed to be out of service most of the time, next to the station there are 2 doors, the right one leads to stairs ,go up the stairs and turn left and you will enter a huge rest room with sofa's and tables with 2 hot drinks machines, widescreen Tv, also these stations have free biscuits and apples (very handy for trips out ;) ) which reception never had.
Didn't see 2 meals for £15 it was £25 per person so we went to Weeden and ate in the Heart of England Hotel/Pub, 2 for 1 on all main meals, meals were excellent, nice very quiet pub with no Tv etc, next to the pub is a take away Fish & Chip shop & a Chinese Take away.

  • My mum has gone for the weekend to Cheadle House, Manchester and said it is ultra modern. They have even been given a voucher for free breakfast too.
