Alright alright no need to brag about your age , by the time this lot has finished with you, your be feeling 129 :rotfl:

They do say you're as old as the man you feel! Poor Halight - so young and innocent (at the moment!). I don't know where you live but I have a fast car!

Morwwenna - I'll try that, thanks. It's only an old towel but I keep it for spills - this is the first time I've created an oil slick, though!

    (((Hugs))) to all the dentally-challenged.

I apologise to all the teachers on here in advance but I am having a rant!

My poor son (who has Aspergers) has always struggled with english and is apparently being victimised for this by his english teacher. It came to a head that he really lost his temper with me one night, exploded over nothing and then told me why he'd lost it. He's doing GCSE coursework and was constantly being nagged to improve.

So I got him to bring his next piece of course work home and told him I would help him, it took three nights of hard slog with him writing drafts, me correcting paragraphs and punctuation, offering suggestions, him doing rewrites until we were both happy with the finished article.

He took it in and it took her nearly three weeks to mark it, when she gave it back to him she told him she would not mark any more of his coursework until he could prove he had written this paper as she did not believe he had done it as he had achieved the highest mark in the class.

The poor kid is stuck between a rock and a hard place, either he continues without any guidance from me and continues to get stick from her for poor achievement, if I step in to offer help and advice the poor kid then completely fails his GCSE because he's improved!

She refuses to help him in school belittling him when he doesn't understand and seems to begrudge his parent trying to do the teaching she is denying him! It beggars belief.

So loving all of the flirting...

I'm in my 20s too, it never really occurred to me what age people were. Age is all state of mind anyway ;)

I've been making the most of a mad phase to try and catch up on all of my housework. I do tend to let things go when I'm bad. Unfortunately while dusting I had the brilliant idea of moving one of the bookcases and changing what books are kept on each one. So I've spent all afternoon lugging piles of books around, so the house is still a tip :rotfl: although on the plus side I have sorted a huge pile to sell either on ebay or amazon, and for the first time I'll have a dedicated bookcase for 'household' books, and it's right next to the computer!
Also, Darling Dave bought a recipe file for me off the book man that visits his work, it's a winnie-the-pooh one that you write your recipes into. It was only 99p because it was the demo one, but it's mint condition. So tomorrow I'll be able to spend all day transferring all of my recipes into it from the pile of scraps of paper and torn pages out of magazines. And technically I'll actually be doing housework! :D Dave is off work tomorrow, and there's no point me trying to tidy round him. I have got all the ingredients to make him a cooked breakfast for a surprise.

Hope everyone is having a good evening xx

Moggins, huge hugs for you and your son. You should speak to the head teacher and/or the head of the governers. Your son is being victimised and he'll never reach his full potential if he's got to deal with a teacher like this.

I was lucky, most of my teachers went above and beyond for me, especially after my life went off the rails, but I'll never forget one particular teacher who made it his special mission to destroy any shred of self belief I had left. You move on and prove them wrong, but it still comes back to haunt you at odd times. So this teacher needs to be stopped as soon as possible. If you need help phrasing a letter of complaint let me know.

    Good luck xxxx

Evening everybody, its the first bit of peace and quiet I've had all day,DH and DS2 have gone to quiz night at the pub. I've got Victorian Farm on in the kitchen, and a glass of cider to hand at the side of the lappy(ooh I know how to live dangerously),and I shall go and have a nice scented bath in a bit.The trouble is because I'm on my own most of the day it takes some getting used to when they're around all the time, but I'd better get used to it -no sign of any work coming in.
Had a bit of a failure at tea time-I'd done stewing beef in the Remoska with some Guiness, smelled good but was still v chewy,so I tipped it into the slow cooker ( ok I forgot to put it in there this morning!) and we had sandwiches and cheese and biscuits instead :rotfl: .It'll be ok for tomorrow .
DS1 may pop up tomorrow to pick up some of the meals and soups I've made for them.He has heard of a possible vacancy off someone he worked with who was made redundant earlier than he was and is now employed again,so fingers crossed something may turn up there.
DH and I went to pick up a van load of logs yesterday. We werent happy with the last lot as they were wet through, and we were unsure whether they'd been seasoned properly and that can damage your flue,so he looked online and found a place- 7 miles from home,so we thought we'd save on delivery.
A lovely lad carried them on his digger thingy and put them next to the van,and we just (JUST  ) had to chuck them in.Decided to leave unloading and stacking them till today which was as well as it rained really hard in the night.
Think I've just about caught up on todays(long) thread, phew.
Halight,I think what you want to do would be very rewarding, hope it works out for you.
    WS,feel better soon,ouch.
Tired mum, what a shame about your cat.Sounds like he just fell asleep in his fave spot though, better than a stressful trip to the vet for him (((HUGS)))
Silvercharming, nice to see you back,I saw you on another thread a bit back and wondered how you were.
Hope everyone who has aches and pains feels better soon, mental or physical.Off to enjoy my bath now.Night all x

  • Well, I logged on to say something about an earlier post, and completely forgot what and who... It must be my age.

Halight - you are safe from me and don't look at anything to do with my current need for penicillin in large doses.

Pippa - I really don't want any thing hospitally. :o I seem to do a lot of 'yes, but..' :o I don't react well to anaesthetic. I had a very light general for key hole surgery on my shoulder a few years ago and went into clinical shock.

Do you know, at doctors. You can tell them something and it's like you have spoken in Martian. I walked round for three hours with two dislocated shoulders because no doctor would believe there was something wrong! I can say - 'I don't react well to anaesthetic (as I did, an earlier one nearly killed me) and they just say that they know what they are doing and it will be fine and then next thing you know you are waking up in a right state! I didn't even need stitches for the surgery.:mad::mad: :o Rant over.

Moggins - I think you need to start being all formal about this, and at least your darling son knows that you love him and that it is not him but his teacher that is the problem, or I hope he does now with your lovely support. You could ask the school about their complaints procedure. There are some lovely teachers out there, and some of them post on here...

There's a thought, perhaps you could pm candygirl, and I am sure that there is someone else as well.

Also, don't say that he has been helped by you, talk about 'private tutoring'.

    Hugs to all.
