Tired mum,
Very sorry to hear about you cat!:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Hi all; just popped back in with a coffee, having had a mishap in the kitchen.
Tiredmum - so sorry about your cat. We've loved and lost four cats over the years, each one of them special, so I know how you're feeling.
Sybil - your toddler sounds just about right for a toddler! My youngest was into absolutely everything and I couldn't turn my back on him for a second without him creating havoc. All this adventuring is how they learn, really, and they do eventually grow up, honest!
Beemuzed - hope you feel better soon.
Redruby - (((hugs))) to DH - it must have been so moving at the funeral.
Well, I was just getting everything organised for dinner -the usual, trying to do ten things at once - when I reached up to the top of the cupboard where I store my oils, picked one bottle up and knocked another one onto the side of my head, from there on to the edge of the worktop where, in slow motion worthy of Hollywood's finest, it landed on the floor and smashed to smithereens, leaving an olive oil slick about two square yards in size. I then used a few very choice words (and I'm not known for swearing but luckily, I was on my own!), and said 'what do I do? what do I do? what do I do?' The situation wasn't helped by the fact that the oil slick had me cornered, so I had to find a way of getting over it without doing the splits or skidding on it. I had a newspaper on the table so I used that as a stepping stone, got to the other side and then had to come up with a plan. Forty minutes later, the floor (which I had washed only this morning!), is now covered with newspaper after I soaked loads up with kitchen towel (till I could no longer stand the waste), scooped some more up with the dustpan and brush, and sacrificed an old bath towel to soak up the rest. Then I had to wash the area several times with good old Stardrops solution, dry it with some old cloths and put the newspaper down. I keep seeing bits of glass everywhere I look, which I shall pick up a bit later when it's dry. Total cost: Olive oil (bottle was almost full) £3, nearly a whole kitchen roll, approx 50p, one old bath towel (no value but now no longer useful, either!), and one dustpan and brush that may never be oil-free again, plus several old dishcloths, put by for DH for cleaning the cars. OH, and one almost better but now aching back, and a sore ear where the bottle hit my head! Oh, well, I suppose these things are sent to try us!
Anyway, I'm sat down with a coffee to take a break before venturing out there again.
Well, phone's ringing so I'd better go and answer it.

Evening all
Sorry to hear everyones bad news with pets cars & jobs etc, hugs where needed.
I was once hit by an uninsured driver, for some reason my ex seemed to feel shouting at me every day for 6 months would improve the situation!
I've had so many people crying in my shoulder today I think I'll go down with rhumatics. Many changes are afoot at work, starting with a staff member being hauled over the coals for too many absences. It looks as though it is just the start, time & motion study is coming next, what joy. I'm worried as I never know what my workload is going to be like, I hope I don't hit a quiet patch just as they arrive otherwise I shall be out on my ear.
Have a good evening everyone.
Hugs Hester

Tired mum, sorry to hear the news about your kittie.
Sybil, that sounds extremely painful, I'll bet sitting down has to be done very carefully?
mioliere - been there, done that, so you have my complete sympathy as I know what a devil it is clearing up the mess.
I was going to have a really productive day today but my friend came round for coffee after dropping her little girl at school and stayed for 2 hours. By then all impetus to work had gone but I have been keeping the house tidy so it doesn't look that bad.0 -
