It's only 12 month contract for line rental not CPS (freetime/unlimited).For that, there is no minimum term....Neil*From 1.3.09, Sky Broadband Base, Mid and Max will increase by £5 per month unless you have Sky Talk. Sky Talk pricing and call rates may vary, current rates can be found at sky.com/skytalk
and guess what you can sign up free for skytalk but its a 12 month contract0 -
i'm in a contract with BT for my calls so taking sky talk is not an option.
My broadband mid is going up to £10, I'm ditching sky and going with o2 broadband, £7.34 pm if you have an o2 mobile and cashback thru quidco for switching!0 -
Martin Lewis says in the latest Newsletter:
"Yet SkyTalk isn't amongst the most competitive for call charges and crucially, doesn't allow you to use super-cheap override providers on its lines."
If you have SkyTALK CPS (Carrier Pre-Select) i.e. you have Freetime or Anytime and still pay BT for the line rental, then you can use all override numbers, except 1280 which routes the call back over BT. I can use 18185 on my line with no problems.
Some people want to route the occasional call over BT to get free caller display and 1571 but if you don't need to do this then SkyTalk Freetime at £0 for off-peak calls coupled with a low-cost override number for daytime/mobile calls may still make sense.
As to why you cannot use 1280 to route the call over BT, see this message from the uk.telecom newsgroup (on Google Groups):
