Don't know that road too well, I know they have them (bus lane cameras) on the M1 between Stockmans and Broadway coming into Belfast.

I saw them last week at the turn off for Esporta near knocknagoney at about 9.45 am. They are normally on the other side of the road where it changes to a 40 near Holywood train station.
if i had known then what i know now

Are there any new speed camera's? i know of saintfield road, upper newtownards road and antrim road .by the way where is the one on the antrim road ? the PSNI are everywhere when it comes to traffic offences........but when you really need them.........takes an hour to respond when you have been burgled.

I've just thanked you by accident (d'OH!). Thanks for contributing to the discussion anyway, I guess.

I don't see what any of you are complaining about with regards to speeding.

    The facts are simple:

    1. Speeding is a criminal offence that often results in death or serious injury.

    2. While burglaries can be traumatic for householders, they less frequently result in death or serious injury. Let's have some perspective here - which would you rather experience: a burglary or a serious road accident?

    3. The police are quite open about targeting speeding motorists. In fact, they have published the locations of fixed and mobile cameras on their website:

    http://www.psni.police.uk/index/safetycameras/pg_camera_locations.htm

I think no-one has an excuse to break the speed limit ('but everyone does!' simply doesn't cut it).

Now you know where the cameras are, you have no excuse to get caught either. Maybe that will slow some of you down at least some of the time.

I'm not a perfect driver myself but I'd like to think that if I was speeding and got caught, I'd have the maturity to accept that I would be the only one at fault and that a fine and/or penalty points would be a small price to pay compared to the horror of causing someone's death.

I think it is only right that the police should act to stop the carnage on our roads and it saddens me when people think that accidents only happen to others. We all have a responsibility to drive with care and obey the speed limits.

Asking whether police have better things to do is a red herring. Members of the dedicated Roads Policing unit have *precisely* nothing better to do than trying to stop us from killing each other on the roads! Speeding by one or two miles per hour is the thin end of the wedge and even this causes crashes.

PS Jetboy - of course police are allowed to use unmarked vehicles for the purposes of detecting crime.

May you all drive safely and be fortunate enough never to be the victim or cause of a road accident.

    Best wishes,
    Jon

Maybe the speedlimits aren't set at a reasonable level. Yes, 30 or 20 mph in front of a school is a good idea, but 40mph on an open stretch of road with a camera on it does make you question how beneficial it is and also why the speed limit is set at that level.
