Can my dogs be taken?

Hi all
Read a post the other day which said someones pets might be taken away. I am almost certain to be going BK and have two quite expensive dogs, is there any chance they could be taken from us?
Unless they are "crufts" winners, then no chance.

we have a big cat (but not a panther/cheetah, just a bone idle eating machine) and we lost our dog of 12 years in 2001 and that still hurts like hell, im 6' 4", 22 stone and cried like a baby
dont mistake flippant/humourous for stupid

I've got a black Labrador who rolled in a fox egg which was freshly laid the other day. I wonder if I ask the OR nicely...
If they were used for breeding, there might be a chance, but other than that, you're ok I think.0 -

The only time Ive heard of this is when a lab gun dog breeder went bankrupt. I cant see how on earth they could do this to a private owner - after all, you can just tell them they are your parents or siblings dogs cant you. How many people have paperwork for their dogs.
Dont worry, I doubt very much they would do it, the cost of kennelling the dogs alone whilst waiting for someone to buy them would outweigh any money they got. I do voluntary work with a dog rescue - every rescue is overwhelmed with unwanted pets.0 -

Thanks for help, you too max:p
They are full pedigree, i have all the papers, they are not show dogs or have or are been used for breeding. I won't say how much they cost but from what i've read hopefully be ok
Thanks again0 -
Hi jay09. I don't have pets but I can imagine how you feel about losing them. My only suggestion would be to leave pet food/expenses etc. off your IandE section. I might be naive saying this but I think ORs are going to be far too busy to be bothered organising the sale of dogs, pedigree or not.0

Jay, please don't worry, the OR is unlikely to ask about your dogs pedigrees, if he does just say they're mutts, they're not going to come and see the dogs, and unless you bought it recently on a credit card they would have no way of knowing what kind of dog you have or how much you paid for it, unless you tell them.
It's unfortunate that spid's OH mentioned the pets in passing and the OR latched onto them, but I doubt they'll be able to see it through.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Agree, just say they are family dogs but to be safe don't say they are pedigree.
