Can someone please explain whay the hell when Oil is down to $50 a barrell (Thats about 1/3 of what it peaked at) that heating oils still is this high. i.e Heating oil about £530 for 900 litres when oil was about $150 a barrell, Heating oil about £360 for 900 litres when oil is now down to about $50 a barrell
And considering it has been a rasonably mild start to the winter and being such a crap summer, so people would have bought oil then, I can't see how it is down to massivly increased demand.

Good Link... Explains it a bit!! Still think it could be cheaper and they are always quick to use the excuse of "It's beacuse of the High Oil Prices" to raise the prices (Note it also doesn't excuse the fact the the government is taking 60% of what we pay as Tax..) Any chance of a bit of TAX relief??Live, Love & Laugh A Lot!0

The cost of the raw material (Crude Oil) is only a part of the story. Much of the cost of heating oil is reasonably static such as refinement, distribution, retail, marketing and of course TAX so even though, the price of oil has come down by nearly 2/3 the other costs have not. With this in mnd, even if the crude oil became free, Heating oil/Diesel/Petrol would still cost money due to these other costs.
It is also well worth bearing in mind that the current $/£ exchange rate is not in our favour like it was last year and this also affects costs as a $50 barrel of crude oil last year would have cost around £25, right now it's more like £34 as the £GBP is weaker against the $USD.0 -
