(posted already) if u paid by CC the 5 yrg Gtee is still valid---but you will have to chase up the CC ...Lot more hassle of course.
How exactly is the 5 year warranty still valid if you paid by credit card? Who would you make a claim with if there is a fault? The reason I ask is that I reported a fault with my LCD just before they went into administration. Thanks in advance for any further advice on this.0 -
If you have any questions i'll try and answer as best I can
Sorry to hear about you loosing your job shaftd, you got shafted by the sounds of it. Could you tell me if this went on at your store; http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=17911603&postcount=58
What I am about to say is not directed at the hardworking, honest employees of empiredirect, but at the dishonest, spineless people that don't have a conscience.
OK, if store managers knew leading up to the administration announcement that there was NO WAY they could fulfil orders, why didn't they subtly tell customers to go elsewhere? That is what has !!!!ed me off the most, because a long time ago I used to work for an electrical retailer and there were many dishonest people there, mainly "sales managers", that (for example) would sell guarantees on the "accidental damage" promise - yet the guarantee didn't cover accidental damage.
I thankfully didn't purchase anything at empiredirect in the last month that would cause problems (but I almost did!). If I had, I would be talking to my solicitor right now, with the evidence you and the other ex-empiredirect employee have provided; like someone else has mentioned - what the company was doing was indeed fraudulent; in simple terms they were engaging in contracts with customers that they could not complete.
The empiredirect directors* cannot get away with this, they mustn't. They need to made an example of. They have obviously exploited a loop hole in the company administration system so that they are protected from liability.
It really is sickening and I hope they get what's coming to them - instead of being honest about whatever problem they had, they've made it worse (hmm, sounds familiar...*cough* Darling). They are nothing but con men in my opinion.
*Remember their names;
Madan Showan, Chairman
Amarjit Singh, Director
Jaswant Toor, Director
Manohar Showan, Director
If you see any companies springing up out of thin air with any of the above named as directors - BEWARE.0 -
I've been using ED for many, many years. I found their staff well informed, courteous and friendly. They're prices were always competitive (perhaps the issue here), and quite frankly they well be missed if no solution can be found.
If any ED people are reading this, good luck.0 -

As far as I can make out and judging by their reactions, the store managers were as shocked as the rest of the staff. The admin. came in and basically ordered everyone out. There was a feeling of uncertainty for the last week or so as stock levels decreased, but we were receiving stock from suppliers direct to stores so we thought there was just a cash flow problem which we had suffered with up until x-mas. it seemed things had just got better. We did receive an email from head office stating that we should only order and sell stock that was physically in the company. We did this and took orders for delivery fully expecting the orders to be fulfilled. I obviously can't speak for everybody involved, but this was made very clear by our management team. Personally if we didn't have stock I was quoting 6 weeks plus and being as awkward and vague as possible to try and put people off or get them to take something away.0

oh, we were selling off old stock from shop floor because it was damage dor discontinued, but only for that reason.0
