Thanks for your reply. i spoke with finance company and they have asked me to write to them advising them not to open the account as empire direct have not request account activation (no idea what this means as the lady said the account was active at there end), which i have done, now i'm wondering what do i do with the items i do have? do i keep them? do i let empire know? and im assuming that the price shown on my invoice is all i'm eligible for in terms of what has and hasn't been delivered? i have basically bought a tv and surround sound system which was on offer for £549, they delivered the surround sound last week but not the tv. the invoice has broken down the prices as follows tv £449, surround sound £100 and stand free, the surround sound was valued on the site seperately at about £400.0

I asked the question yesterday about fully paid orders where the stock IS in the company. He basically said if you paid by credit card see your CC comp. If you paid by cash you would have to join the list of creditors directly and wait and see.
No stock is to be released AT ALL. so no deliveries will be honored.
Company is up for sale and IF sold the new buyer MIGHT honour fully paid items.
Contact the finance company. I think if you havn't received all items you might be able to claim back for those. It may be the same as a CC.

Normally your finance agreement (the one you signed) should be kept at empire until you receive all your goods. The finance company will not pay empire until they receive signed agreement and will not charge you likewise. altho your account is entered on line and they have agreed in principal they cannot take payment until that signed copy reaches them. (or so i understand) I should wait and see what finance co say.0

From what I've seen on here and elsewhere it looks like ED have done a proper job of it. So very little chance of getting anything back  . I've sent an email just to make sure my interest is registered (the phone line was pointless). I'm going to give the 'Visa chargeback scheme' a whirl and see what I get. Anyone else interested in taking this approach my want to see Martin's advice:

It also gives advice for those who paid with CC.
Slowly calming down, but still kicking myself.0 -

By debit card, not a visa one unfortunately, maestro.

I think the moral of this story is pay by credit card, rather than debit card, then pay it off as soon as the statement arrives.
I must admit I just use the internet for browsing now,I prefer to deal with someone face to face, do yourselves a favour go to smaller independent shops, otherwise there will only Tesco left, and lets face it they're not likely to repair your vac if it goes faulty or install your television at 5pm on Christmas eve are they?0
