Oh damn!!
I've just look at the info on refunds via a visa debit and I'm so frustrated.
I paid with visa debit BUT via paypal, apparantly this means I can't claim via my bank
I'm so annoyed as I only used paypal as form of protection:mad:0 -

But when is something going to be done to stop these companies trading when they know damn well what's happening
So many dirty tactics here, I had a phone call saying one of my items was out of stock, I was meant to collect from the store but was told that due to the inconvenience that they would deliver free of charge. Obviously it never arrived, as well they knew:mad:0 -
just watched the news programme - one of many couples were on - an oap couple who had saved for a fridge and cooker and finally could afford one and now have lost their money...so felt for them.....they then showed some workers at bingley which was also so sad seeing it.....the manager wouldnt even talk and noone would come outside to talk to all the customers - how rude and ignorant is that? the least they deserve is some respect.....
i think the owners car should be compounded too towards some of the debt and his house and everything - let him see how it feels...0 -

I have made a claim with paypal but according to the t&c's only ebay purchases are 100% covered. All other purchases are only covered if they can get the money back back from the seller.0 -
Has ANYONE had any luck with Visa Chargeback via their bank on a Visa Debit Card???0

I am in a slightly unusual situation and I am concerned as to whether or not I will see any kind of compensation, so I would be interested in any thoughts or advice.
In February 08 I bought a Toshiba LCD TV from the Bradford store for £1200 using a credit card.
The TV was fine until a few weeks ago when we noticed a problem with it.
Obviously it was still under manafacturers warranty, so we spoke with Toshiba a couple of times who said that they couldn't repair it, but told us to return it to the retailer (ED) along with a reference code which they gave us, and that the retailer would either give us a full refund, or offer us a replacement. We spoke to ED who confirmed that they would accept it and they asked us to return it.
Last Saturday we packed up the TV and returned it to the store blissfully unaware of the impending doom. They happily accepted the returned TV and we chose a replacement set of roughly the same value without any cash having to change hands. The set we chose happened to be plasma and that meant that we were unable to transport the set ourselves as plasma tv's must remain upright and shouldn't be laid flat. After some further discussion with them we agreed to have the set delivered today at no extra cost. This in hindsight was a disastorous decision for us as obviously today the set did not arrive.
No doubt ED or the administrators will be claiming back the value of our returned set (our hard earned money!!!!!) from Toshiba to add to their own coffers, which makes me feel well and truly swindled by them.
I was wondering how sympathetic the credit card company is likely to be in this situation, as we bought and received the goods but then some time later had to return it on instruction from Toshiba and effectively use it as credit against a new tv which hasn't been received.
Do you think I stand any chance of seeing my £1200?
Thanks for your help.0 -

I ordered a washer and a dryer and the empire 3 year cover total £729 instore on 11th Jan and they said it would be here in 2 weeks but obviously they have never arrived. I was handing my debit card across the counter and at the last minute swapped it for my credit card thank goodness. When I think back now everything I looked at said "selling fast" which basically meant they had no stock, I thought it was because it was just after the xmas rush but obviously not. I have tried phoning today and getting the same message as everybody else so I have requested a claim form from the credit card company. Can't decide whether or not to order same items from somewhere else, as we are without a washer, is there any chance that empire (or the administrators) will deliver the goods. Don't want to end up with 2!

That is something I always do, pay by credit card when its for any large/expensive item. I learnt that lesson a long time ago.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
