Hi spak2 - sorry what do you mean by a PDA

PDA = personal digital assistant. That little handheld electronic device you see staff walking around with. Unfortunately, PDAs tend to break and are like golddust. If you spot a member of staff with one, follow them around! ;)

  • Could Tars and spa2k or anyone else for that matter give those of us still having problems with 'top 15 xbox games under £' suggestions as to how we can resolve this. I have 2 different games, still with all the original packaging untouched both of which were charged well over £30 and not the lower price advertised on the poster.

The store refused a refund as 'the poster only meant that some of the listed games were priced under X' and when I phoned customer services they called the store, having no knowlege of the details of the poster themselves, and accepted the stores interpretation.

I also e-mailed customer services, with photos of the poster and my receipts but response was "the prices on the poster relate to the prices at tesco.com"!!! No offer of R+R and ignoring my comments that 2 different prices were on display and i was wrongly charged the higher price.

I have reported to TS but they did say that any action against tesco ie posible fine, would not necessarily have any bearing on my discussions with Tesco.

I have left this for a couple of weeks now so realy need to follow up or try to return the games and get my money back.

Sounds like you might need to take it to trading standards - but make sure the poster didn't say that only some of the games were only under that price first. Also it may be worth noting that if they try to say that is the online price then the poster should clearly state this otherwise it is ambiguios which is against the trading laws (or so i believe anyway). Hope this helps

Unless it clearly says dot.com only then it sounds well dodgy. Especially if the poster is physically located near the games. Does it say anything else on the poster?

Like redhot said these things do really have to be pretty clear to be allowed.

Are said posters still up now? If so I will have a look in my local tommorow when I pop down there.

  • Already reported to Trading Standards, see post above. These posters were on display in some stores for 2 weeks ending the same week as the mars bar misprice - there were a lot of posts on the forum about this at the time - several stores refused R+R for reasons above and others were ok to R&R.

No way could either of the excuses above be justified - the poster were very clear - this was a case of head office stitching the stores up by issuing posters without updating prices -very similar to what happend with the mars bars really which the same store r&rd eventually, but only after the manager was called as they argued 'the SEL is correct'. That manager was going to R&R the games as well until the CS said 'well the customer was in the other day and so and so said the poster meant only some of the listed games. I couldt help saying 'next you will be telling me the Mars bars poster only applied to some the mars bars' but that fell on deaf ears.

I will add that I have not been rude, angry or jumped up and down over this - or anything else for that matter.

As I say - there were lots of problems with the xbox games - it cant just be me that didnt get this resolved favourably - how did others sort this out!
  • Hi,
Apparently Tescos are in the process of replacing the scanners with new technology ones but they are having problem getting/fixing one part of it. I've been told this by my brother who works instore so don't think he'd lie to me!!!

Hopefully it'll be sorted soon!! I only found this forum bit yesterday so definately going to go searching when I've got some money!!!

By the way, is there anybody who goes to the Leicester T?? If so, wanna keep me posted and I'll do the same!!!

    Thanks

Meir Park has self service scanners and some little price check scanners in some of the isles. tIts a pity all the Tesco store dont have them even for general price queries.

Also can we know the store the bargains are at (which has been asked loads of times I think) then we wont be wasting precious money saving time searching stores that dont have particular bargains in.

Anyone who doesn't yet have the Heartlands book, they are still wrongly labelled at £2.96 at Meir Park and Hanley Tesco.

Apologies...i thought I saw you mention Cannon Park in a previous post.

As for the JD, have it...have it all. I have far too few memories of a really bad night that started with a big bottle of JD....

  • There is a new "PS2 chart games under £30" poster dated 10/2/06 in the Sheffield Abbeydale store, but they have no scanner and all the SEL's were showing 29.99 or less when I was there about 1hr ago.

Might be worth somebody with a working scanner in store checking the range to see if any are over the £30
