Go on you RRers you only have one option when T treats you like this.

    Robert.....

I am not "MR T".....nor am I MR A, B or C. I have voiced a personal opinion on one posters problem. This is not a Tesco endorsed opinion nor do I claim to speak on Tesco's behalf.

If you don't like the replies that I give on any one particular topic then feel free to remain silent as comments like those above seem to do nothing to enhance the debate, in fact i would go as far as to say that they are deliberately designed to stir ill feeling.

I shant bother attempting to adress any further issues that you raise as you quite clearly have a completely closed mind and are not open to any others opinion.

    Best of luck to you.

Hi Dudes - Ive been away for a week on business - my word this thread has been busy.

Robert - please don't give Spa2k a hard time - he seems like a good Dude and has helped me in the past on this thread - his input as a man in the know is very much valued.

I've always said "each to their own" with R&Rs - whether Dudes go for a single item or multiple buys - but I fail to see why you feel the need to announce the news of your latest purchases - can't we keep this thread on topic?

IMHO your clubcard antics are appaling - you and I both R&R - I guess like me you use cash and obviously no clubcard - treat people how you would like to be treated - knowingly leaving a false trail of R&Rs on some poor !!!!!!s clubcard is not on.

Shame on you Dude - have a think about it.

Wow! That is a little personal. Maybe you don't like what you hear on this site. Anyway I am very glad you won't be replying to "any further issues" that I raise.

But I have just been told officially that T does not cross reference clubcard receipts to determine the identity of the persistent RRer. So how then can I be leaving "a false trail"???? I seriously think T should have a little homework to do in the evenings if he persistently overcharges us and if that means going on a wild goose chase, then so be it.

  • I went to my local to try and get my first R+R last night and unfortunately failed miserably. No problems with staff or anything, just couldnt find anything overpriced. Trying to remember what I had seen on here as I was walking round isnt easy.

By the way I did see (and get) Eveready Ultimate AAA 4 pack. There were 4 racks of them 2 racks had price at £2.27 and 2 had £2.17. At the till they scanned at the lower price, so fair enough, but might be worth checking o0ut in other stores.

Some people have mentioned that there are scanners in store. Are they referring to scanners that customers can use, adn are these in all stores, or are they just referring to the scanners at the tills that are staff operated.

Thanks in advance for any replies
  • Having found out about the Tesco R & R policy a few weeks ago I have been viewing these threads with interest. I've never posted before but thought I'd share a recent experience with you all.

Last week I purchased a chart CD, PM at £8.97, advertised at 20% off. I scanned it on the self-checker machine and it scanned at £8.97. When I purchased it a multi-buy saving showing "20% discount" was shown at the bottom of the receipt as a £1.80 deduction.

This week I purchased a laptop which scanned at just under £400, which is what I was charged. I went back to the store to query why the 20% discount had not been applied. After speaking to various managers they claimed that the discount had already been applied.

The signs across the store stated "20% off all laptops" and "See shelf edge labels for details". The shelf edge label had a couple of prices crossed out but no mention of the 20% discount.

Based on my purchase last week I argued that the pricing was inconsistent and therefore unclear and ambiguous and that either a 20% discount should have been deducted from the price at the POS or the sign should have read "price includes discount" (it did not).

One manager argued that the previous week's offer stated "deduction applied at checkout" but I said that despite the fact it did not say it this time, my experience led me to believe that it would be consistent as a "20% off" promotion. He agreed that it was "slightly inconsistent" but would not do anything about it. He said there was a legal team at HO who deal with SELs and they would have deemed the SEL acceptable before rolling it out nationwide. He said I could take it to HO if I wanted so I asked him if I could take a photo of the sign. He said no photography was allowed instore. I asked if he could give me a copy of the sign and he also said no. As I wrote down the exact wording of the sign he called the store manager who adopted a more agressive tone and said it was clear enough and that I could either return the laptop for a full refund or take it up with HO/TS.

The store manager then proceeded to ask me why I proceeded with the purchase if I was not happy with the price. I said that I checked the receipt for any discount applied when I got home and re-checked the SEL price the next day. He said that I should have paid more attention when I bought the product! Surely that argument contradict's the entire R & R policy?

Would anyone else agree that this pricing is ambiguous based on my experience from one week to the next or would TS say that Tesco were being clear with the pricing? I'm quite happy to write to TS/HO to take it further but if anyone else has had a similar query and not got a positive outcome I'd be keen to hear about it in case I'm wasting my time!

I believe I have a valid argument that the TS legislation of "clear and unabiguous" has not been applied but am not sure how to proceed now or whether it'll prove to be waste of time and stressful.

    Thanks!

    C4C

    Hi Coolforcash,
Sorry to hear T wouldnt let you photograph the evidence. Must have been because his untruthes would have come to light. I really am disgusted by this treatment and dislike seeing it condoned by some on this site.

I must add, tescos staff are generally more 'available' and helpful than my other stores,

asda and sainsburies are 'local, tesco needs a bit of a trek, but i do prefer the 'feel' of tescos
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

    Dude,

I've been told the opposite - a scan of any receipt where a clubcard has been used will give the CS - if they decide to access it - a list of recent transactions by the cardholder.

If you give some innocent a R&R - then they have a genuine R&R subsequently - then they could have problems.

No bad feelings Dude - if my information above is correct, as I believe it is, then your behaviour is IMHO simply not on.

Perhaps someone could confirm one way or the other if CS can track transactions in the manner I've described?

*sigh* Why is this thread so full of arguing? Oh well never mind.

I have a quick question regarding the tracking of R&Rs on clubcard.
If you give your clubcard on a purchase that you then R&R how do they know its you that gets the R&R? What I mean is say a fairly common item like a bottle of wine, is overpriced (without people realising) in a big busy Tesco maybe three or four of them will have been bought in the last hour, or that day. If they don’t ask for your clubcard at the CS desk how do they know who returned it out of all of the potential customers?

Id imagine that barcodes don’t distinguish between individual items?

Well it came from their mouth. Spa2K posted earlier this morning that T doesnt bother checking clubcard numbers. So all in all there's no harm done if I forget my card and let another use theirs. Whether I go on to CS to complain about an overcharge on that particular receipt seems immaterial. T doesnt loose out. He's always encouraging us to use clubcards to build up a data base on us and then sell the information on to third parties at our expense. Just playing him at his game thats all.
