Tesco misprice policy discussion area part III

" misprices are caused by stores not updating the printed material, be that posters, pre priced barcodes, hanging point of sale or any other price displayed in store. "
Spa2k - when prepacked cherries come in store labelled in very small writing on packs at £2.97 and the 'system' scans at £2.98 then you are effectively saying that the store has not inspected packs and updated these packs manually with £2.98 labels instead of £2.97. Of course it simply cannot be that sometimes your system scans incorrectly ie. 1p more than it is supposed to and simply gets it wrong, expecially seeing as cherries have a very clear number of days that they can sit on a shelf?0 -

I spotted 24 on dvd series 2 & 3 sel were £19.97 & stickers on the dvds were £23 so i thought i had found a new misprice
They went through as £20.97 so I took them both to cs & explaned. She disapeared to check & came back with the none food manager who said I had been undercharged! I pointed out the policy on the poster & he came back with "I know you know your rights as you have noticed things before but in this case the policy does not apply as the dvds arrive in the shop pre-priced"
I said okay & he left. I then asked the cs lady for the head office number & they agreed with me so we got the manager back on the phone & HO changed their story & said in this instance the policy does not apply.
I gave up at that point & asked for my money back
I have had only 1 dealing with the manager before & I thought he was just a sa as he looks so young!
CD's & dvd's having stickers on has never been a problem before.
If anyone else goes to southport can you please check out the shelf to see if the labels have been removed, they had them for 4 series. It was on the bottom shelf on the 1st section on the right.
None of the other misprices were to be had, the cd chart poster had no prices on & there was no ps2 poster
Where more than one price is displayed the vendor MUST sell at the lower price or withdraw the item from sale in order to comply with current legislation.
If the sale was complete r&r would apply irrespective of what garbage the manager may choose to spew out in his or her defence!Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
I was wondering. If you buy a game at one store and it scans say £10 lower in another have you been overcharged? If so which store has to deal with it?
I'm asking theoretically as I know some CS are "better" than others. So could it be preferable to try get discount in another store with receipt or is this not accepted?0 -
Tars wrote:Believe it or not there are no discussions at head office over how to screw the customers over. There are no instructions sent to stores to switch off the scanguides (the customer scanners for checking the prices). Believe it or not things don't always go perfectly in the company (gasp!) and thats why some misspricing and other bad situations occur. Please remember that we are a group of individuals doing our jobs. Can all of you out there say that at your place of work everyone is perfect and never makes a mistake or a bad choice?
I'm sorry but I have to take issue with this, screwing the customer is frequently discussed at head/regional offices perhaps not in such blunt terms but the conversations do take place, the scanners whilst have a history of malfunctioning are frequently disabled by staff for varying reasons although as you say this is not a deliberate central policy, mispricing is a major topic at head office at the moment in particular the crisis surrounding customers availing themselves of the r&r pledge commando style and the dillema it has resulted in, its just not mooted around for obvious reasons. r&r is far more damaging to the store manager than the company as it exposes poor housekeeping and client management on a grand scale.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

And your allowed your opinionI just think your quite mistaken. Can I ask how you know the scan guides are frequently disabled in store?

If Tesco spent as much time checking their own prices as they do their competitors, maybe they wouldn't make so many kok ups. They only have themselves to blame.
ps I can spell....just had to pass the censor!0 -
talking of screwing customers, when is the Tesco Sport promotion back? My local school needs a new football, and apparantley if we collect 10,000 vouchers we can get one free.0

I was spreading the word about this forum at work today when someone told me that they had been charged for two bottles of sherry at Christmas that were supposed to be BOGOF.
When they went to CS they were surprised to get the whole price refunded (in line with Tesco policy) and not the difference as expected.
This was the Yate store near Bristol, sounds promising for R+R in the future...(the way all stores should be)

So they are 'screwing customers' by offering clubs and schools free equipment for people shopping there, note, they don't force people to shop in their stores, or to spend more money during these promotions. I'm sure if that was generally the opinion of the sport and computer schemes Tesco would happily stop 'screwing customers' and make the schools buy their own equipment for normal prices.
And infact, next time the promotion is on you could just say you don't want the vouchers so that you're not being 'screwed'Titch0 -
The only reason Tesco do this promotion is to get people through the door. Not for the benefit of the comunity.
Readers of this forum are wise to it, but there are many customers out there who aren't.
They chose to shop at Tesco to help out their kiddies schools etc. But don't realise that they must spend thousands to get very little in return.0
