Hello ladies. I have been reading this thread with interest and amazement at how much cleaning you all do. I really find it difficult to keep my house clean and have been inspired to get more done. I wonder if you have any advice or tips on cleaning when you have a small child. My little boy is nearly 1 and into everything so it is very hard to get anything done when i am constantly watching him. He will not go in a play pen as he cries constantly when i try to put him in with his toys and only sleeps for about 45 mins in the day. Any ideas would be very helpful0

Congratulations Jennybee! Do I have the record for fastest though? DS1, induced following pre eclampsia, examined and nothing happening at all 6pm, delivered naturally at 6.46pm.
Drum roll please, we have cleared the junk room! Stud wall for the BR and new BR will be going in tomorrow. I need a skip though, and to have a freecycle frenzy.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Right managed to
get shopping
put away
rearranged understairs cupboard
Placed big box of painting stuff in cupboard
DW x1
Cat fed x 3
Worksurface wiped.
washing put on radiators
Packed car up, got a bit of a do tonight and I've got the buffet stuff. Going to see how I get on, prob won't stay late but want to see some friends I haven't seen for a while. Conversation will be stilted seeing as my mouth keeps doing an impression of a cats bum, not that it eases the pain but psychologically I think it prevents more pain.
Anyway I'll see how I get on.

Well I'm back from the gym, and have updated my sig - not much weight lost, but body fat lost is better. I've just eaten a hot jam doughnut, and burnt my tongue
that'll teach me to try to eat it before it's cooled down enough. lol Oh, and I'm eating a jam doughnut cos there were 2 left in the fridge, and they need to be eaten (OH can eat the other one) plus I burned off 260 calories according to the summit climber and the treadmill so I was starving!
Hoover filter is still not dry - have put it on top of the radiator in the hall, so when it's dried I can get a lot more of my list done. Just been into the kitchen, and OH has already managed to leave a big tea stain on my nice clean worktop! Will have to clean it again now! Oh well, on the positive side, if I clean it with the antibacterial cleaner, I'll be closer to having an empty bottle to dilute my stardrops in which I bought the other day.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -

It isn't easy is it? I got my boys into a 7am to 7pm routine early on which gave me the evenings to do stuff. When I got really desperate I booked them into nursery one morning a week which really, really helped but I appreciate is a 'bad mummy' thing to do and not cheap. Do you have anyone who could entertain him whilst you get on? More than anything I learnt to make the most of the opportunities I had, amazing what you can do in 15 minutes if you really try. At the end of the day though having a happy child is more important than a clean house - we made a lot of sacrifices for me to be at home, and it wasn't so I could be a cook/cleaner.
HTH - I am sure someone with more constructive ideas will come along.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
AnW'mum - you're too kind
JennyBee - congratulations on the arrival of Little Jonathan Douglas - take it easy! Glad you had an easy and short labour. And do be careful second time round! They say that a second labour is half the time of a first. As it was in my case - 5 hours with my DS and 2.5 hours with my DD. Just as well I was already in hospital waiting to be induced the following morning as DD was late.
Dusty - when I joint a chicken, I start off putting it breast down on a chopping board then remove the wings, then I do the legs, then I turn it breast side up to remove the breasts. The carcass bit left over which has quite a bit of meat on it I boil up to make stock with.
Well, shopping done, pheasants are braising in the oven with juniper berries (most appropriate I thought!), cloves, black pepper corns, wine and bay leaves. Veg prepped. I'm doing my olive oil roasted potato cubes, hot beetroot, onion marmalade with braised celery, carrots and cabbage. Managed to buy a small punnet of, probably genetically modified, strawberries at the greengrocer so we'll have that with cream for pud - NN really likes strawberries.
The dog should be good - took her on a very long walk around the park this afternoon and she's snoring on my bed at the mo. Also washed my bedding and it's almost dry now.
But, I need go and S&S the kitchen and put the potatoes on...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Hi sweetie, well my suggestion is take a look at list on the POST 1 and then try to do 1 thing, then get back on here and let us know.
The key is to do little and often, if you can. Baby steps hun, it's how we all do it and don't worry if you fall off the flylady wagon every now and then, we all do believe me.
We'll encourage you as you go along, any questions ask away hun. x:D

Newby moneysaving chic - try the HHCs (Half Hour Challenges) - they are great and I get loads done in them. Stick a timer on for 30 minutes, although I suppose you could do 15 mins if time is short, and see how much you can get done in that time. The lists on post 1 will help you to focus on what tasks you are going to attempt, and also remember that your little one will only be little once, so don't stress too much about the cleaning. I noticed a real difference after doing the lists for a couple of weeks. Also, if you can (don't know your circumstances), delegate some of the tasks.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170
