Moving to talktalk - is it a good idea?

I signed upto talktalk few weeks ago, Im moving from Tiscali due to prices, and my broadband gets activated in feb, however, I have been reading ALOT of problems with downloading .torrent files, throttling, my friend cannot exceed 25kb/s on her 8MB connection(with torrents) - everything else is fine. I was just wondering if there is anyone out there on talktalk having this same problem?

is it to late for me to cancel should I not want to continue with having talktalk? sorry im not that smart when it comes to things like this.

I want to continue with talktalk, however I do not want t have .torrent downloads throttled. :( tiscali does not limit the download speed, but I dont want to move if talktalk does!! :((((

any info is apreciated,

thnx

    You wont like talktalk then.

You really want o2 if you can get it cheap or sky as they don't do throttling.

I've been with TalkTalk for around 4 months now. A couple of minor problems in setting up in the first week were dealt with efficiently (apart from long wait for them to answer the phone - at least it was a free call though). I was wary about going to them at first but have had no problems - very happy.

Absolutely steer clear of TalkTalk - left AOL their latest b*mchums a month ago.

I joined bethere unlimited not via quidco but you could do it.

I d/l torrent files there is absolutely no problem with throttling or shaping and some of the speeds are amazing.

O2 are also a good bet after all bethere and 02 are partner companies

    Good luck
  • stay well clear of talk talk. they are probably one of the worst companies i have dealt with in my life. not only well they throttle (i mean reduce your speed at busy times but also constantly disconnect your connection every 15/30 minutes) but as other posters have mentioned if you value your time - never call their customer service. Put simply yes the number is free to call but you get put through to a call centre that simply doesn't care about resolving the issue. They might be cheaper then a lot of others but to tell you the truth for a couple of quid a month it is not worth the hassle especially when you are on a 12 month revolving contract.

I swapped to them from BT but what annoys me the most is the insincere customer service staff based in India or South Africa. Today I dealt with a robot who seemed to be reading from a sccript and probably was. No offence to South Africans or Indians but there is something about foreign call centres that makes you think these people just don't give a damn. Maybe the geographical distance. My email service has been down for over a week and all they say is the engineers are working on it. I tried to get more information about whether it was just me that was experiencing the problem or was there a bigger problem in this area but the person just kept saying they were working on it. I wanted to reach down the phone line and wring his neck.

Has anyone else been having problems recently with talktalk email? My email just says unavailable due to temporary maintenance. What else can I do other than ringing up? Should I write a letter? But i want email now not in 3 weeks time.

My opinion is that they are rubbish and stay with BT or whoever. Also if I hear that wretched tune 'together as one' again, I will totally flip and they pplay it so loudly whilst you are on hold. It's a form of torture.

    Not happy
