  • Another one saying hello.

I will be plodding the London Marathon this year for SENSE.

The other half got in last year and seeing her run was awesome, gave me the kick I needed.

Training started late October then the colds/flu came which stopped me training till end of December.

Now running 8 miles comfortably, however for some reason I hate the shorter runs, feel like it takes me 2 miles to start to get into my stride.

The running also means less alcohol, so in the past month I've lost a stone!

Enjoying it...... though I have to admit I hated dragging my !!!! out yesterday and I try and mix the surface I run on as I need to 'listen' to my knees and avoid an injury......

hi rusty! 8 miles at this stage, when you have been laid off with illness, is ok I reckon! Still 12 weeks to go!

  • I'm just happy to be ok, I'm where I need to be according to my Garmin schedule and I won't be setting the world alight with my time, for me it's getting round it.
  • Morning all,
Well im having a nice rest day today after my 2 awesome sessions yesterday.
Plus going to see the parents this weekend so will be driving this afternoon so dont want to be tired for that.
I should get out at the weekend as iv mapped out a 4mile loop so hopefully will get out.
Everybody has been doing soo well, keep it up no matter what distance you run, its all good for you and a lot more than most people in the country.

    Hi Rusty,

And welcome :D - time is not an issue - its about being the best runner you can be for the amount of time you have to train/what your goals are etc...if your knees are hurting I suggest some sorbathene insoles if you dont already them - they wont cure damage already done but will help stop it from getting worse :D

Here we are supportive of everybody's targets - and its great you're doing FLM - thats another one to add to the list :D

Thanks everyone by the way...but I do need to go out running tonight to help take my mind off it! Its a great way to think without thinking :)
  • Becks - hope the day goes as well as it can for you and your friend. hope you get to switch off on the run tonight but dont push too hard or be too hard on yourself if you dont do as well as normal, it will be perfectly understandable under the circumstances, just relax and let it take your mind away from the days events.

Well after recovering from bad back, I've had a stinking cold and cough so went out for a great run on Weds.

Then about 1/2 an hour ago my back went again! I was only putting on ds sock and it froze. Off to see doc soon to try and sort it out but running definitely off the agenda for some time.

I'm only 32, too blooming young to be decrepid.

So keep going everyone and hopefully I'll join you again in the future.

    Ev x
