Sally/Rich can you answer a question....i know you aren't physios but....

I ran 6.6 miles yesterday and afterwards my knees were as Sally put it 'inflamed and stiff'. Bit better today although they did hurt going up the nursery stairs...

Is this normal, should I go and see someone about it? I would hate to think I am doing some damage to my knees...Its the first time this has every happened to me. I have to say it was the first time I have ever done over 6 miles on road, most of my runs/races are mainly off road...

Sammy, its only a problem if it persists.

Its just that the tendons have been stretched and contracted a bit more vigorously and for a longer period than usual......and so have become sore as a result.

Once they are used to that level of punishment they should be absolutely fine.:D

Sammy I said yesterday never never again but this morning I have woken up thinking...ah what the hell! If Idon't get in, then ive lost nothing and if I do then :)

As for your knee's mine is down to the fatty pad in the knee which gets inflammed when the joint is constantly being pounded. This is mainly due though to the fact that I didn't do enough proper stretches and therefore when you run you end up running incorrectly and causing damage! Make sure you do those stretches sammy and take some ibuprofen in the meantime
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....
