Oh Sally, I'm so sorry to hear this bad news, especially in the present economic climate. I hope that he soon gets sorted out with something else, but in the meantime, have a big (((hug))).Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Sallyx, I am so so sorry to read OH news. I really hope that things get sorted soon.
I woke up this morning to see that my latest blister has finally "fused" back to the skin. I am tempted to run today, but think that as last night when I went to bed it was definitely still "loose skin" I should give it another 24 hours and some more surgical spirit, just to be on the safe side. The other foot is healing up nicely although very itchy where the new skin is tighter.....still, I am getting there and hopefully will be back running in a couple of days!
good luck to everyone running today - the weather looks perfect for it here.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Hi Hayleygrey,
Good luck with the new trainers - just remember to take it slowly and try to enjoy it - truth be told it took me and month or two to properly enjoy the run - so there's no shame in being sweaty, gross and exhausted afterwards - in fact I bet thats what I look like on Sunday after my race
Have fun!
Thanks Becky
Have also managed to talk my other friend into starting running. With a hyperactive dog each and loads of places to walk/run, we've got no excuse and a few more weekends like today and it'll be great.:T:beer:0 -
Hi everyone, very quiet on here today, with people preparing for races tomorrow. I had a fabulous run this morning. 3hrs  running along the Leeds-Liverpool canal. I have to say it was wonderful running weather. Very mild and where I was it was sheltered so no wind either - perfect! The towpath is very soft underfoot, no concrete to pound the joints and as my usual running buddy is also in half-marathon taper mode, I took things very gently and really enjoyed myself. The trouble is, I have no idea what distance I covered, which is frustrating, but in 3 hours I expect it was in the region of 17 - 18 miles, which is my longest distance to date in this training programme. I feel brilliant too. Legs are tired but no niggling pains so I am a very happy bunny.
I hope everyone is OK today.
Hypno - those feet deserve lots of care. I think you need to be going back to the running shop with those trainers. I know it isn't great financially, but if you are going to get around those 26.2 miles you need to keep your feet happy.
Sally - hope you managed a run today. I agree, the weather is great at the moment. It really feels like Spring is on the way.
Haleygrey - Welcome on board. Glad you are enjoying your running. It sounds like with your friend joining in and your dogs enjoying it too you will soon be addicted. I think we're all running nutters to a greater or lesser extent so you will be in good company.
Becky, Rich - Good luck for tomorrow's race. We'll all be thinking about you, don't keep us in suspense with the results. You have both prepared extremely well so I'm sure things will go swimmingly. Don't forget to enjoy it!
Evab - how did you get on today? I hope you managed a run and your back is still ok. You'll be back in the swing in no time.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

I so so wanted to go for a run today - the sun was shining and it was fantastic outside! But, OH says I should give the feet another couple of days as he doesn't think they are healed enough yet. I couldn't get to the shop today to sort out my shoes because the chap I need to see was not in, but they said to ring tomorrow and he should be available.
But I did go for a brisk walk - brisk enough and hilly enough to be out slightly out of puff, so that will have to do for today.
Roll on next week, so I can get back into it! Only 9 weeks to go
Chick - fab running there - 3 hours :T
Rich and becky - good luck for tomorrow - you will be absolutely fine!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hope you can get back into it next week Hypno...do you feel prepared? Enough time still to get where you want to be?
I am panicking..people at run club who have done it before keep saying plenty of time...not sure I believe them though!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

I think, Sally, that I would prefer to be BETTER prepared - but having a cold, blisters, the snow, and stuff means that I have missed several weeks.
BUT, I have done several 8, and 10 mile runs, my 12.5 mile last Sunday, and 14 miles the week before, so although it is not exactly where I should be if I was sticking to the schedule, I think it is enough, if I work hard in the next few weeks and have no more major mishaps, to get round - even if my original target time is out of the window.
I am realistic, I think, and there is no way that I will NOT finish that race.....but just not as quickly as I will do NEXT time I do it
From what I have read, I think you are in the same boat - having a few days off here and there because of illness, family stuff, snow, Christmas etc, but yet you can still pull a steady solid run out of the bag when you go back into it.....that ability will see you through, I am sure.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
