Late in the day for today's run due to work committments, but nonetheless it works pretty well from a training point of view.
Still being super cautious because of the uplift in mileage, 46 miles in the last 3 days, but it felt strong and unproblematic....so quite happy with how things are progressing still.:D
Sally, If your achilles have stiffened up its because they have been overstretched beyond their normal working elasticity.....and have now tightened up to effect the necessary repairs. This can happen if you go from predominantly flat work to suddenly doing hill work or if you introduce speed in an unstructured way. Whatever the cause, the range of movement has to be kept as low as possible until they have repaired and feel strong again.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

 Good Morning, enthusiastic runners!
Thats the bulk of the week's mileage under the belt.
Now just a gentle 10k in the morning and then hopefully should be in decent shape for the half marathon on Sunday. Or at least that's the theory........:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Morning Rich, another good run there. It really feels like spring out there this morning and this always fills me with hope and a
Thanks for that info on the achielles, didn't think I did either but maybe it was my super fast pace walking that did it Anyway they feel fine today although cough/cold still lingering I have a sudden urge and desperate need to go running. In fact I was bloody dreaming of running the bristol half last night, but this certainly was a half of a different kind, it was more like the course in the krypton factor added in for good measure and of course when you run when your dreaming you can never run can you, its like slow pace and you don't get anywhere Anyway they feel fine today although cough/cold still lingering I have a sudden urge and desperate need to go running. Morning all,
no running for me last night, had a day off with the OH and kids as its half term, so enjoyed a pigging out at pizza hut on the happy hour offer( which they got wrong and we got an extra pizza for free)
Rich you should easily manage your run on sunday.

            Morning all
Thanks again becky and beer tins, i'm such a newbie, your advice is really helpful! :T
I went to the gym last night and did my 20 mins on the treadmill at 5km/hr but did it on a cardio setting rather than a fat burn, and the treadmill took it upon itself to raise me from a 0% to a 5% incline!!! I thought the thing was possessed! lol
But I still managed the full twenty mins + the cool down of 5 mins at 2.8km/hr, but i only covered 1.5km in the whole 25 mins??? Why is the distance less for walking on an incline than when i walk on flat at the same speed??? I was expecting to have covered 2km in 20 mins + extra for the cool down period. strange. I was expecting to have covered 2km in 20 mins + extra for the cool down period. strange.
As for my knee injury i apologise, i should have explained it a bit better. Three years ago i slipped on my wet kitchen floor :rolleyes2 (big spoon that i am) and locked my knee to steady myself, and ripped the muscle to shreds, weirdly there was no tendon or ligament damage, so i stayed off it for a couple of weeks and hadn't had any bother with it until about 6 weeks ago.
In my infinite wisdom i decided to scrub OHs bath, as it was filthy, but this meant kneeling on a tiled floor for about 2 hours, when i woke up the next morning i couldn't move my leg :undecided it was so swollen i had to keep it straight.
After a trip to the GP i was told that there was no explanation as to why it had happened, just sod's law, but that the fluid which had caused the swelling was now inflammed  Out came the voltarol gel and a tubi grip and two weeks later all was peachy.
So it's not so much some horrible injury that gives me jip on a daily basis, but every now and then my knee will click, usually when walking up stairs, and i don't really want to risk causing any lasting damage.
 I think for the 10k, as it's my first attempt, i shall copy the tortoise, slow and steady :rotfl: Debt@LBM1=£4050 1st DFD 27/08/09 :rotfl: Debt@LBM1=£4050 1st DFD 27/08/09 Debt @LBM2 =£14,469.97 2nd DFD 14/03/2018 :T

            Well done Rich, good training!
My back has not felt like this for years, I'm pretty dubious about these things unless I see results for myself but Chiro is amazing. He has also started treating my wrist as I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in the left one, sounds odd but it's all linked to the problem in my neck. Basically I've been a bit of a wreck and it's taken until my 30s to get sorted, idiot, feeling really well at the mo! Sorry to those who don't x0

Well done pink, keep it going!0

That's the idea, pink. Get to a stage where you are regularly covering 10km by walking. Then we* can get a training plan done for you. The old saying "you've got to walk before you can run" isn't just true in a figurative sense! Well done and keep it up.
