Think i'll leave 7 for now, ta
In proccess of installing Vista, i tried numerous different ways but this was by far the easiest:
http://www.techmixer.com/install-windows-vista-from-bootable-usb-flash-memory-drive/
Other guides cut down Vista as they are generally aimed at Netbooks with small hard drives but as mine has 160g just installed full version
I read somewhere that you can use other forms of memory to extend the RAM like SD , Flash etc but cannot now find it for the life of me! If anyone can point me in the right direction i would be grateful.
Yes, that was me about 500 posts ago! :rotfl:
If you go to www.eboostr.com it has all the detials there. Im running it on my Acer using a 2gb sd card and it works a treat. (and its free!!!)0 -

I have not tried it with Vista but the driver for vista works with windows 7 so I guess it is worth a shot.0 -

Is that using the touchpad? if so you need to update the driver. You'll need to check you have all the latest drivers from Acer website if you've (anyone else) installed XP, Vista or Windows 7 (the XP drivers all worked for me in Windows 7)....they should work ok with your Vista.

I got all my drivers from this:
http://rs254.rapidshare.com/files/144559297/Acer_ONE.exe
It was recommended on a couple of sites but i am wondering if i have done the right thing! It was so quick though compared to the Acer site!
Is there any legit programmes that will update all drivers?
If not how do i replace drivers when it is saying they are up to date,
Thanks all

Hi! I'm also looking for a dvd drive, mainly so I can watch movies on my netbook.
Would the Xbox drive work with Linux? And are they USB plug in? Do you need to power them from the mains as well?
thanks to anyone who can answer these!
I can't think of any reason why the xbox dvd drive wouldn't work; so long as it mounts itself as a generic usb mass storage device.
Yep, an external usb drive is what you are after - I just bought one (a DVD RW) for £5.80 in the PC World mega discount sale
While i'm not absolutely sure, it seems likely to me that USB CD drives would have a peak draw greater than the usb 5V can supply, and so will require an external power source.
The one I bought needs DC 12V 2amp, but maybe that's because it's old or inefficient or because it's a writer.
:edit:
yep, seems the drive i've bought is ancient! First reviewed late 2004 =>
I would imagine most DVD external usb drives are now entirely powered by the usb bus.0 -
the xbox HD DVD drive comes with its own power supplyNorn Iron Club Member #64

I've used an Xbox HD-DVD drive to install Windows on my netbook before I bought a separate usb DVD writer, it works fine :T0 -
Anyone know how to get the microphone to work when using the webcam? - the bloke at Acer said it has been set up in such a way that the sound file has to be recorded separately0
