Have you tried installing and running Skype - mic works ok on mine. I haven't done anything other than update all the drivers to latest version and keep Windows up to date.0 -
I got all my drivers from this:
http://rs254.rapidshare.com/files/144559297/Acer_ONE.exe
It was recommended on a couple of sites but i am wondering if i have done the right thing! It was so quick though compared to the Acer site!
Is there any legit programmes that will update all drivers?
If not how do i replace drivers when it is saying they are up to date,
Thanks all
Great Machine!
I just installed all the drivers manually (executable drivers). Took about 10 mins total. You didn't say whether your using touchpad or external mouse. If external mouse it could be the mouse sticking (rollerball inside). If touchpad then update the driver and see if that works. Thanks for the alternative link.0 -
Ok, guys, now I am not very good with technical stuff so please don't laugh.
We have an xbox that has hardly been used as we have a PS2, and xbox 360 etc.
How do I use the drive from the xbox, is it easy to remove it from it, is it just a case of unscrewing a few screws and taking it out and has anyone got any pics that they can post to show me what the eck it looks like please?
I can put flatpack furniture together in no time at all though without any probs!!! :rotfl:0 -
no, not an xbox drive, the HD-DVD drive addon for the Xbox 360, it's an external drive that connects via USB. The reason they are suggested is that they can be picked up cheaply following the death of HD-DVD as a format, although they still function perfectly well as external DVD drives for PC's.0

They arn't talking about the 360's internal DVD drive, they're talking about the external HD-DVD drive that can be bought for the 360.

As HD-DVD is now obsolete, you can pick them up very cheaply - sometimes cheaper than a regulard USB DVD drive! (which is barking mad)0 -

No I don't want to install Skype. I'm running Linux and everything is up to date - just wondering if there is any fix available that would allow the mic to work as is. Maybe a command that could be executed?
The bloke at Acer was in agreement that it seemed a silly way of setting it up but said that's all he could say and then suggested going to the Aspire user forum.0 -

I've not seen any DVD writers that can burn working just of USB. The laser for burning DVD draws a lot of power 1.3a from memory.
The older DVD writers may not cope with all the modern DVD media as a lot has changed in the organic dyes used. Could be worth dropping the speed if you hit problems or just use up any old media you have.Seth.0 -

My LG ones does exactly that. It does use a second USB connection to draw more current, however.

I have that LG dvd writer as well and I would highly recommend it. It both reads and burns using just a single USB connection (even when I have a USB mouse and a USB portable hard drive attached at the same time).
As mentioned by Stephen, there is an extra USB cable in the box so it does have the option of using a second USB connection if more power is required.0 -
