Which store did you get yours? Been looking in my neck of woods (Chester) and all sold out....apparently!

It's mentioned a few pages back; it's the Altrincham Asda Living store.
I had him search through their stock looking for ones with the 160gb firmware versions; given the length of time he was gone they must still have a significant number remaining.
However, they probably don't have any more 160gb versions; the shop assistant who found the one that I bought said it was the only one he could seethat had a different firmware. Ofcourse, I would expect he stopped looking when he found the first - so it isn't a definite.

I also asked him when the offer was due to expire, and he seemed to believe the current price was 'it', not a time-limited offer nor limited to only current stock .
If this is the case, I would expect Asda stores nationwide wll be getting restocked at some point.

I took my daughters netbook back today as it crashed and would not restart. I had bought one first from local asda and got 160gb bought my daughters from a different store and it was a 120gb. When i returned hers I returned to the store I bought mine from they exchanged and when I checked it was a 160gb yay.

Does anyone know how I can filter internet content for my daughters netbook.

After a crash / power outage the laptop will check the hard disk for errors.

This can take a over 40seconds or longer as the fscheck runs. The screen is blank during this time and no message appears. After the check the machine will start or reboot once. It will then work as normal.

Look for the hard disk light during the recovery it is the only clue as to what is going on.

The first time I saw this I kept rebooting the laptop!

Acer should print a message on the screen.

This is also made worse as normally the Acer boots so fast 15 seconds from cold!!

Oh the replacement 10" model has been seen: http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/01/23/acer_intros_10in_aa1/

Oh for people wanting to install bits and bobs and make recovery disks you do not have to buy an external CD / DVD as you can share a CD from another PC or Mac (using the network) also to make a recovery disk you can just use a USB key! This will allow you to reinstall or add a new OS

If you have Firefox installed, you can add Glubble which enables you to have total control over her content as long as she doesn't know your password! You have to allow anything she wants to see that doesn't appear on a pre-approved list. The pre approved list includes a ton of kids websites that I didn't even know existed!

I'm sitting here hoping the price stays low long enough for me to get paid!

Have you looked at opendns? I use it and it is very good. You can't even use a proxy to get around it. You can also block out any site you look plus use their list which is been constantly updated.

It is easy to set up on your router.

Just Google Glubble and it comes up, then install it and follow the instructions. Set yourself a Glubble password, it is an add on to Firefox, nothing to do with using the computer iyswim.

    It's easy, honest!
  • If anyone ever needs to use the Recovery CD to create a Linpus recovery USB installation, here is a big word of warning.

If the host machine you use to boot the Recovery CD on has more than 1 logical hardrive, the process to create the usb installation will fail with 'error 39'.
More importantly this failure will have corrupted the partition table of your machines 2nd logical harddrive!
It just happened to me - corrupted the partition table of my 750gb music/videos drive! >:(

Thankfully I found this webpage, which goes through the process to recover it.

Acer realy need to stop distributing a recovery disk that can do catastrophic damage to any machine it is inserted into !!!
