I've just installed 'XP PRO' (Unattended install) form a 4GB USB stick, but only after a few days of head scratching.
Used 'nLite' to intergrate SATA drivers and 'XP Service Pack 3' (right-click and 'Save Link As') into the XP installation.
You can get a SATA driver pack from HERE if needed.
Once your the XP install files have been updated with service packs, drivers etc, use the utility 'USB_Multi_Boot_10' (right-click and 'Save Link As') to create a bootable USB memory stick that acts just like a Windows CD-Rom.
Then just set your netbook to boot from USB and you should be good to go!
Install took approx 30 minutes.
Dead simple to use and free!
There's also a Install XP from USB GUIDE
May have already been mentioned earlier in the thread, but I don't have time to check. Besides, it'll save newcomers to this thread having to search back through all the messages.TehJumpingJawa wrote: »The touchscreen mod is so very tempting =D0 -

Just upgraded the memory .... purchased from Crucial, arived within 2 days!
Just finished the process, it took approx 30mins, went well and all works without issues - XP sees it no problem! - I've not tested it fully, but applications seam to be noticably faster etc. (obviously with 1.5gb of mem helps).
I would point out to anyone considering it, the process involves taking the AA1 apart completly (the screw pannel beneith is nothing to do with any memory upgrade), the task of installing the memory is ok - but not for the faint hearted. You'll need to have knowledge and be happy about taking screws out of the case then unclipping it, removing connectors and circuitboards etc. - then putting it all back together.
I did notice that there appears to be a space on the board for a SIM (3G option - hence the blanked off slot behind the battery), does anyone know if this was ever launched or can be installed on the AA1?0 -
I just nipped in & bought a 2nd one - a 160gb version, and am now pondering how likely it is I can return the first (120gb version). (perhaps using the receipt of the 2nd, so it looks like i've only had it for 1 day rather than 4!)
Does anyone know how thoroughly they check for wear&tear on returns?
I've been using it for a few days, and although I havn't noticed ever marking the surfaces, on close inspection I can see 1 or 2 minor scratches on the shiny surround to the screen.
I suppose I've got nothing to lose trying.... though i'll have to put Linpus back on it, so it will cost me a little bit of time.
Unless ofcourse someone here wants to buy a 120gb version, 'almost new' =>0 -
To those of you who have bought this item recently in the last couple of days or who keep nipping in to get another one, can you state which asda you got the item from and if they have any left. Or if anyone around the country especially in the London area know of any Asda that have any left...a heads up would be really appreciated,...I really do not want to go on to Ebay and get one as it seems that's where they have all gone...there now seems to be a million & 1 of them on the site, going for silly prices.
Also can someone please advise best place to get windows XP as all searchs come up with Vista. Many thanks0 -
