'Frankly the job could be done with half as many, it could be more productive, more efficient, it could deliver a lot more value for money for the taxpayer.
'I was amazed, quite frankly, at how many people deserved the sack and yet that was the one threat they never ever worked under, because it doesn't exist

The government need to listen to people like him, but they won't."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0
-
I would have thought the figure was closer to 66% that could be sacked."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

There's only one thing worse than an inefficient super-state and that's an efficient super-state.0

Since the privatisation of the utility companies the civil service has become one of the few places to hide the unemployed.(excluding Parliament of course)This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Ive worked in government departments ( both local & national) and OH works in central depts as a temp ( eg defra/ home office/ FCO etc)
I regualrly worked a 60+ hour week in local government and so did my colleagues. there was not a single one of us that clocked off at 5.30. Most of us regualrly worked weekends (unpaid, unrecognised)
Oh does his 9-5 because there is not the budget to pay him to stay to do the overtime. He reckons theres at least 2 hours work to do every day that he has no time to do.
I love how many people seem to think that wiorking for the state is some big doss. I have much more time on my hands now working a 50 hour week for a private company than I ever did working for the government. Its like a walk in the park compared. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I agree there are a number of free loader in CS jobs.
But will they make massive cuts during a time business's are?
The main problems in CS are the 40+ YO with 20+ years under there belt.
They feel untouchable, there work (well lack of shows that) and virtualy are due to the cost of making them redundant.
Also My wife works in LG she cant belive the lazyness, atitudae and skiving nature (she has worked there for nearly 20 years)
The good thing is she does actualy work for her money but a lot treat the job as a meal ticket.0 -

agreed, and it seems the further up the food chain you go the more it sticks.
my sis works in LG too, and has been told that they have to downgrade thier cars to get mileage. She uses the bus anyway for her work rounds. but some of her colleagues have been told thier cars cant be used for mileage any more as they are too ineficcient and they need a small car ( eg micra) they have allstarted usiung the bus ( and cabs) as they can no longer use thier own cars. the bus is more expensive.
On the same week the head of division has managed to buy a jag on the states ticket, with PERSONALISED NUMBER PLATES.
What a disgrace. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
