The only man who sticks closer to you in adversity than a friend is a creditor.

There is a time and a place for your views and it certainly is not the benefits board, where people come to seek advice!princessl84 wrote: »I was agreeing with subsoniccoyote. I am now leaving this post and this website. God forbid you have a a view on a subject all you get is abuse

First sensible thing you have said!
May I suggest you check the whole site before you go though, as there is a lot more to it than the benefits board...0 -

H Just an update,
im not sayin EVER i would trade my now situation, i am very lucky i ahve a loving family and a very secure job, after i got made redundant with 1 hours ntice 3 years ago i know how fortunate i am for having a secure role.
As for wealth yes i have my 2 wonderfull sons and loving family.
HOWEVER it just annoys me that this government does not reward those who go out to do the best for families. I will reflect this with my vote but if we want those without families to expand this econemy then the government must look at that (DONT FORGET THATS NOT ME).
I want the best i can afford for my childrens future financially and it just saddens me that this would be better for me to not live in a 2 parent family from a financial point of view. Thios will not happen but its just WRONG0 -
Rewarded?! Why should you be financially rewarded for having children?!follows2006 wrote: »HOWEVER it just annoys me that this government does not reward those who go out to do the best for families.
Having a family can cost as much or as little as you want it to. What your children WANT and what they actually NEED are quite often worlds apart. A child does not NEED a TV in their bedroom or branded clothing or foreign holidays or expensive game stations (I’m not suggesting that your children have/want any of these, more pointing out that they don’t need them).
Giving your children the best YOU can afford is fine; expecting others to pay for this choice simply because you’ve paid tax (which you will note is compulsory not voluntary), is not.follows2006 wrote: »I want the best i can afford for my childrens future financiallyIf I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -

I think this government does quite a lot for working families to be fair (not that I want to praise them too much!
) but it is mainly low income families as they are, surely, more in need than high income families?
There has to be a cut off somewhere, or the future you wish for your children may not involve many of the welfare support, or public services we have now.
I kind of agree about it being cheaper (for some) to live apart, but I don't find it unfair as such, just very sad! And I am more saddened that families choose this option for financial gain.
There are many groups worse off than families though, and, apart from providing more childcare provision (not free, but more places, and at times that fit around shift patterns etc), I really don't think they owe us anything.
We may have to agree to disagree though as you clearly see it differently.
