yeh you must be tired, are u used to it, do you travel alot with your work I stay in the same spot every day mon-fri lol
Yeh the minister, photographer and piper changed without us loosing any deposits so thats good but now I have a better venue im wanting to spend money on bits I was not going to bother with before so budget is probally going to have to go up a bit but not too much I hope!!0 -
Oh no! I lost my date twin
Rant time. I'm SOOOOOOOO annoyed with my venue. I asked before we placed deposits if there would be a room for me to get ready in the day of the wedding and was told yes. Not strictly untrue but what they failed to mention was that i'd have to pay £175 for it  HOW rude when we're paying £7,500 for the venue (or am I being a bridezilla and expecting too much?)
I see their logic in that someone could be staying in that room the night before and they'll loose money, but I absolutely refuse to pay for a room just to get ready in. So now we have the logistical nightmare of organising for Me, my dad, 4 adult bridesmaids, 3 flower girls, the 2 mums and 2 babies to get the half hour drive to the venue without hiring cars or having the wedding party driving themselves  Time to call in a few favours I think.
AGHHHHHHH - just when you think somethings sored and done it all goes wrong.
Rant over. Hope everyone else planning is going well. 5 months......
SK xAfter 4 years of heartache, 3 rounds of IVF and 1 loss :A - we are finally expecting our miracle Ki11en - May 2014 :j
And a VERY surprise miracle in March 2017!0 -
wow cant believe I came across this thread - lots of people getting married on the same day as me - 8th August 2009!!! I was looking for honeymoon giftlist places as I will probably go with Trailfinders but just shopping around before making the decision and came across this thread!! So far
- Venue booked, deposit paid (includes all alcohol, food and DJ)
- Dress bought and paid for (have to go for a first fitting at the beginning of may)
- Got some vintage Monolos for my wedding shoes
- 4 bridesmaids dresses bought and paid for, they have all got their own shoes
- I have bought 5 ties, one for the groom the others for his best man/ushers/Master of Ceremonies
- Got both wedding rings
- Bought buttonholes for the groom and his men plus male family members
- Ordered corsages for the ladies of the family (the idea is that they will all have calla lilies and the photographer will know who the family members are)
- Photographer booked, deposit paid
- I am still deciding on what jewellery/tiara/veil to get but theres plenty of time, Ill probably decide when I go for the fitting
- I am currently writing a track list for the venue DJ, we want a club classics set for 2 hours then H2B's 2 brothers are going to do a set each for an hour
- Currently writing ever changing seating plan which is the MOST stressful thing!
- I made the invitations myself, now need to decide on giftlist honeymoon thing so I can put them into envelopes and send (although I dont think this has to be done for another month or 2)
- Church booked and deposit paid, need to arrange for banns to be read in local church
Feels good knowing thats all done but I love organising so hast been a chore at all or stressful. The worst is probably the seating plan!!! We are either having London landmarks or tube lines instead of numbers, I dont want anyone thinking that if they are on number 10 instead of 2 they are not as important to us....what are you guys all doing?0 -
Welcome back Sammy and hi Mrs. Metallica
I don't think your expecting too much sexki11en, how dare they try and charge for a room to get ready in. I hope you get the travel arrangments sorted ok.
I'm glad I'm not the only one worried about the seating plan Stephk. I think place names or songs that mean something to you as table names is always a good idea.
I'm so glad we booked our florist yesterday, she's even agreed that if the lillies go up in price in August her quote will stay the same - how great is that? Her work has even been featured in a wedding magazine when a wedding was being reported about.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck
Phase 1 - Emergency Fund - Complete :j
Phase 2 - £20,000 Mortgage Fund - Underway0 -
sexki11en: I agree, they should have specified it, they cannot back out now. Surely they can give you a room for an hour in between someone checking out and then checking in again? You have already paid enough to hire the place. Can you not write a polite (but strongly worded email) to the management to say that they did not advise upfront that you would be charged, therefore naturally assumed it was included? Good luck x0

Hey Blonde (I never found out your real name- seems so odd me saying Blonde!) I'm good thanks. Totally cacking it now. It's all moving too quickly haha. We have booked the honeymoon, sorted the florist etc. We are flying out a few days after you and may just go over Turkey so I will wave from the plane hehe. xx
Laura.
Even more odd as I've not been blonde since about 2002, I went back to being brunette but the name has stuck! x0 -

yea thats really sucks !!!!.. i think you should complain, explain your paying all that money, theyve mislead you and havnt told you the extra charge for the room so they must keep you as a customer happy and provide you with that room for a certain amount of time as compensation for there misleading you. It would also be good to explain to them that because of there inconvinience, that your are having to spend more money and wasting time on getting transport, dont lie down.. go bridezilla and let em have it gurl!!!! its your day and what the bride wants.. the bride will get lol.:exclamati:female:choose life, choose to save money, choose to search higher and lower, choose martin lewis and rock the F**k on!! \\mm// :female::exclamati0 -
Sexki11en- I know we are both alone now with our dates
that is very cheeky of them £175.00 after all the money you have spent already!! how long are you wanting it for is it just a few hours.
If you speak to someone higher surley you must get it for nothing or a very small fee, they obviously dont realise your a MSEI bet some people don't challange it so they see what they can get away with!!

ok ok.. quick emergancy update!!!!
so i told my best friend from since i was 12 that im getting married. and now ive ended up with a 3rd! bridesmaid.. thankgoddess she can pay for her own ha! we're also in full swing planning the hen night which has come down to, a night out at a strip club for a laugh... or a night in with the girls and a random male friend dressed up as a maid (pvc) that will do our every bidding!, along with that an anne summers party.
ive decided that the bridesmaid can wear wat they like as long as it goes with my colour sceam and had my final approval.. a very good MSE tip i think lol.. as most woman have a army load of clothing anyways. and it will keep then all happy and me a lil more stress free!
i dunno what the groom will say to another bridesmaid but im sure ill make him feel ok about it(more so because she can pay for her own stuff lol)
anyways i must be gone, i will update u on more later!
