That's really sad. I was assuming he was about 18 and still had time to grow up. If this is truly not a wind-up and he still behaves like a spoilt child at 29, then I think it's probably too late for him to learn how to be a decent social creature. I think the only way forward is to get his own place, where he's free to live as he sees fit.

right well it seems that most of yous are landlords too the way you're all sticking up for her! just because i am a lodger does not mean i have no rights!

anyway i'll update you on the latest and lets see what you think of this.

i went into the bathroom after i'd been online this morning and then tap tap tap on the door - it was her. she said she wanted to talk to me and could i hurry as she was in a rush and had an appointment.

so i told her to wait a bit and then when i came out she was waiting downstairs. straight away she said to me that she wanted me to leave friday (tomorrow) that she would give me my rent back for this month - my rent went into her account by standing order - but she would hold the deposit cos she wanted to know how much the phone bill was and how much extra i had used on gas by spending so long in the bathroom.

i told her i could spend as long as i liked in there and she did her nut again! she said i was selfish inconsiderate and mean. i found this really insulting and told her that if i wanted to spend one hour in the bathroom that was my business and she said - her words - WE HAVE TO CONSIDER EVERYONE! well she has not considered me.

i then told her i was okay with moving out tomorrow and she said to me that when i moved in it was not meant to be a short term let and i must have known that. so i said my circumstances have changed and i need to move. she said again she was not running a hotel and that she now had to go through the process of finding another lodger and she was very angry about the situation.

she then said she would give me my deposit after she found out how much the telephone bill and gas/electric bills were. i reminded her that it was all inclusive and she was being difficult.

she went even more bananas and said i could leave right now! i could see she was really angry but i was too and i told her not to push me somewhere i didn't want to go. she then went really mad and said - her words - ARE YOU THREATENING ME! - and i said no i didn't mean it that way. she said what do you mean then? and i said i will call the police if you try and throw me out.

she went even more ballistic and sais she could call the police and get me slung out!

luckily she had a meeting to go to and had to go out but said to me she would talk to me later. she was fuming when she left. she also asked me for my keys and i refused and said i would not let her have them

the situation is now i have come to work and will be back there tonight. i think she is being really difficult and just trying to keep my deposit. she even called me mean! when i asked her to repeat what she said, she said - her words - you are mean. a selfish tight a*se!

i will not be spoken to like this by anyone. she is taking the p as far as i'm concerned.

I think you live in your own little reality. You live in a SHARED house therefore you need to SHARE, spending 1 hour in the bathroom when there is 4 other people in the house is inconsiderate, you wouldnt like to be the one stood outside would you.

She is trying to be reasonable with you and your throwing it back at her, Yes inclusive bills, but I think she was expecting somone who wouldnt take the micky, Inclusive doesnt mean use whatever you want regardless, especially not overseas calls.

I think you need to think about other people than yourself. You clearly did not come here for advice you came for justification of youself and actions.

its seems to me that you cannot keep your mouth shut and perhpas you should keep scthum just accept that perhaps your are being very selfish ,,,and you would be better off out of the house ..

And if your using the phone carelessly like that what about all the other utilities?
