Is this a joke?
Your not contractually obliged to share kitty with the other housemates... The landlord normally doesnt provide things like loo roll, dishwasher, washing up liquid, cleaning products, towels etc.
YOU have to PAY you fair share in shared house. Basically you were not chipping in and milching toiletries, washing liquid etc off the other housemates... its pretty common sense, you are 4 people sharing an environment so you share the 'kitty' costs of expendable items that you all use and share.
Complainnig about the long walk, is completely irrelevant and shows you in a bad light... totally lol. Landlord is correct.
It sounds like you:
1. Dont clean up after yourself... dont respect others shared communal space
2. Don't pay any money toward expendable shared items
3. Expect to use towels of other individuals
4. Hog the Shower and... most imporrtantly
5. The other 3 housemates definately dont like you.
If i was livnig with you i'd think you taking the mick.
1. Check your contract to see if its a short-term and what t+cs are there, its prob not an AST as its a shared property
2. She can and should withold deposit for phone costs.
I think you don't get the idea of sharing a house and belive you should first rent a 1 bedroom flat.. to gain an appreciation of what it means to keep a flat clean tidied and stocked with things like loo roll etc. At the moment you are relying on other individuals like a child would its mother.0 -
Molong, have you not been a lodger before? you do have a responsibility to clean the kitchen after you. How would you like it if you were one of the other housemates to go in and find it all greasy? It's just common sense, like not staying in the bathroom for nigh on an hour? There are 3 of us in my house and 1 bathroom and there is never a clash because we are all CONSIDERATE of everyone else.
Even when 2 females spend slightly longer when we wash and condition our hair, we still only take 15 minutes to shower, hair wash, teeth etc.
as a landlady, if someone didn't have their own linen, I would lend them some for a week max by which time they could get their own sorted.
As for it being somehow the landlady's fault for suddenly building a hill between hers and the station - haha. you are a plonker of the highest!Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
re-reading this all have to say this is soo a wind up.. nobody is this crass surely?0

Cant be a wind-up the OP actually came back on the thread and tried to justify himself.
At 29 you would have thought that loo roll and other expensive consumables dont just grow on trees. And sharing another persons towels - thats just gross - its not a hotel!0 -
I'm so gonna stop buying loo rolls!
I checked and It's not in my contract!!!
:rotfl:

If the landlady demands that he must leave immediately then he has to go. He is no legal position to tell her, his landlady, he will be staying put!!
I know of a similar situation where the lodger refused to leave on the spot (the landlord and lodger had a massive fallout over something or the other) and the landlord phones the Police who came round within half an hour and ordered the lodger to collect his belongings, gave him 15 minutes to vacate the premises, and said if he refused to they would arrest him for trespassing.
The lodger said he wanted his deposit back immediately, and the Police said it was a civil matter and he would have to sort it out through a solicitor.
So yes - he can be turfed out immediately!
Me? I'd have slung him out sooner! He sounds like a mean selfish little runt.
Trespass is not a criminal offence, it's civil. But the police will assist in removing a trespasser from someone's property, if asked."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
This just has to be a wind up, no person with any sense would fail to sympathise with the landlady...the ops actions are too selfish, spoilt and dumb by their own account.;)0
