IB medical assessment

I am still waiting to hear if i am to have a medical. I have already decided that i am going to fail if i do as i have been feeling better for the last 2 weeks. If i do fail i am not going to appeal as i feel that is going to stress me out and set me back again. I am going to apply for carers allowance for my daughter(she gets mrc dla) so i will come under the carers umbrella(once she comes home as she is living with my parents at the moment) and be able to carry on claiming IS. I hate claiming benefits as it makes me feel so bad but what else can you do when you can't even leave the house, let alone work.0

I think honeyd has been on it for years too so what makes you more entitled to it than she is?
What is it your claiming it for?
I never said I was entitled.Neither did i say I was claiming it, I'm not. What I actually said was that I would have no difficulty at all persuading my GP to give me the required sick certificates. Depressive type illnesses are extremely easy to fake, but almost impossible to prove. Which is why they have become the new 'bad back'. About time things got tightened up. It is ludicrous to think this country supports about 2.5 million people who are apparently too sick to work. If this is the result of 60 years free health care then we need to scrap the NHS and welfare state and go back to people having only what they earn.
This thread has turned into a pity party, perhaps it would fare better on disability and dosh. they do hugs over there.0 -
I mis-read your posts. This thread is not the place for your comments and I have reported it if you have a problem with the benefits system post in the moneysaving arms. There is a sticky on the main benefits board to say this is not for bashing the system.
Its attitudes like yours that make it more difficult for those of us who suffer from mental illness.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
thankyou emweaver I read Krisskross remarks earlier and had to walk away from the pc before I posted something that I would regret but you managed to put it across perfectly.
The people on this thread are seeking advice and help not judgement from someone who obviously has not suffered any long term illness and therefore is, while entitled to an opinion, not the best one to be listening to.
Its this kind of attitude I was trying to make a point of with the Athos workers if they have this kind mindset are they going to give you a fair medical I think not.0 -
Well he made me very cross and upset but didnt want to lower myself to their standard! I face people like him all the time and its upsetting. Even my mil says why is she depressed she has nothing to be depressed about? Some people are so narrow minded!Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

Their is a certain amount of trust needed by all people involved in most things in life.
If a patient tells a gp he has a migrane or a bad back i would expect the patient to be believed.
If a client tells me he/she is innocent, i have to work on the basis they are telling the trueth,..sometimes your gut feeling will tell you otherwise..But gut feeling is irrelevent in the whole scheme of things!
With regards to the Esa exam, the medical examiner has to have a tangible reason to turn down your claim, and He/SHe would have to justify the reason in question if the claiment went to appeal,Child of a Fighting Race.0 -

.
But you all know exactly what you want and think you are entitled to so therefore do not actually need benefit advice. Which is why I suggested disability and dosh board.
BTW I have suffered and still suffer from a very bad case of PTSD. Still get the flashbacks, panic attacks etc. It never stopped me working apart from the initial few weeks when I was a real basket case.0 -
I have been seeing my gp for about 4 years now and she has got to know me very well in that time due to my mental health problems. She did say to me last year that she does see some people who obviously are trying to pull a fast one with the dwp but keeps impressing on me that she knows i am genuine and backs me up all the way which does make me feel better as many people don't understand the nature of mental illness. I am sure we could all fake illnesses if we really wanted to but why would ANYONE want to have the stigna of being a scronger and being too lazy to get a job etc which is what everyone seems to think of us people that claim benefits like IB and IS. I would not wish it on my worst enermy i hate it cos it just adds to the illness you have already got being made to jump through hoops and fight for every little bit of money.0

I feel the need to back up KrissKross a little here. My partner went to her doctor and basically got persuaded into thinking she was depressed. He did the basic depression questionaire and he tempted her into picking the top answers for a depressed outcome.
She refused to claim any benefit from it but walked away with a sick note as proof for policing matters.
It's been proven (i can't remember where though) that work is good for your health in most cicumstances.
I've had lots of success stories with customers who found work (some got a prod from the jobcentre with these medicals). THey have since said that working helped them overcome anxieties and panic attacks.
The problem they said was that they were stuck in a loop.
The didn't want to go out so didn't face any fears. And the longer they didnt go out the worse the illness got.
Surely someone here has a success story to tell everyone to cheer us all up!? :-)You can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0 -
I think here that the point is that depression was used as an example in an instance and now the comments made by kriss kross and the further comments this pm have not been put across in a manner we would have all associated with this forum and site. They have been put more in the way to intice an argument.
His comments I have found quite insulting and unhelpful on this thread.
I came on this thread to help people not to be judged and sentenced by someone who does not know me my situation or my illness or anyone elses on here for that matter.
Also if you have the kind of GP who you can cry a bit to or who goads you into being depressed and gives out sick notes like lollypops maybe its your GPS who need to feel your wrath not this thread0
