Welcome to you, XNatalie - this is a great thread. I'm sure you'll like it here.

Wannabe - taking onerous tasks and breaking them down into smaller chunks is the way to go. I learned from someone on here (sorry, I forget who), that, if they have loads to do, they spend fifteen minutes on each task, setting a timer if it helps. Having a horrid job to do doesn't seem so daunting if you think 'well, it's only fifteen minutes'!

Hilstep - I hope things work out for you. (((Hugs))) from me.

Pippa - my dinner isn't one to copy - we're having a fry-up, with scones and clotted cream for afters, but only so as not to waste food on its last legs! Tomorrow will be a chicken curry with rice - a bit healthier!

(((Hugs))) to those with poorly cats; seems to be a few on here lately. We've always had cats until about five years ago, when our last one died, but I know how they become members of the family. I make do with DS2's and DIL's cat - I'm it's Nan, apparently! Not a very nice one, though, because I was the one to take him to the vets to get certain parts of him rendered useless, and also to give him his very first tablet! DH would have loads of cats, if I let him, so we are tentatively thinking about getting another one.

Well, I've done some work that needed doing so I'm hoping for a couple of hours to catch up with my knitting.

It's turned out to be a lovely day here so far. A watery sun is trying to come out and it's not too cold.

    See you all later.

Welcome Natalie - your neighbours sounds generous! My poor kids are stuck with carrots today lol! Reading your menu plan has made me fancy noodles now, will have to do some stir fry at the weekend I think, yum!

Welcome Loopylinz - this place is fab for motivation, that's if you can tear yourself away from reading lol! We had mice, found one sitting in front of the telly once, looking up and apparently watching it! We got kittens, no mice problems since then! Perhaps as Moliere suggests, you could borrow a cat for a day or two?

Sybil - little bits of tidying at a time is the way to go! I've just done my bedroom, was just going to tidy away the odd bits left over from pressies and pop them back in the cupboard, then as it only took 5mins I did a bit of magazine and book sorting, looks so much better in here now, just need to do another burst later!

Hockeyduo - nice to see you back again, and congrats on your dh's promotion, lovely to hear some good news about someone's job!

  • Hi all.

Well, I've done my first work session of the day - I do before and after school, caring for a girl (8) and a boy (9). It's nice to have a good few hours to myself during the day with this job but the 7.30am start is a killer. I'm not designed for early mornings. :rotfl: I have to admit to jumping into this job 6 months ago when my previous family decided they could manage without me - which was quite true since the boys were 18, 17 and 15 by then!!! I do miss them after being with them for 5 years. The new job has been a bit of a culture shock - very different values and work ethic within the house. I keep saying I'll look for another one but having so much time to myself during term-time keeps me there at present. Ramble, ramble, ramble.... sorry!

Anyway, I've also been shopping at Lidl and Morrisons this morning and managed with just the cash in my purse and Friday is payday. Really pleased as I put £60 away this week. That'll disappear next Tuesday though as I'm off to the dentist to have a crown fitted (£200  ).

Just going to have a root around in the fridge and freezer to decide what needs eating tonight.

Good day chums, very misty and damp here in north Kent.Having a bit of a lazy day today,no shopping to buy so no need to go to the shops .I have been really pleased about how my spending habits have changed.I used to go to the shops almost daily, and sometimes just for a bit of a wander around and always bought something .Since September I have been on the GC and now only buy what is needed in the way of food.My cupboards are still fairly full, and I am slowly working my way down my freezer. I'm sure at one point I must have been shopping automatically and not really thinking about what I was buying .I sorted out the cupboard under the sink yesterday and I can't believe how much stuff is there .I had no fewer than 3 bottles of bleach, 4 bottles of Fairy washing up liquid and god knows how many of those little sponge thingys for scrubbing with.No more cleaning stuff required I would think until mid summer. My cash food purse only had £44.00 in it this month and by Friday when my month finishes I will still have money left over ,more to go into the holiday fund.
I put my washing out on the line for a blow, but it doesn't seem very windy but at least it will smell a bit fresher when I bring it in.
Right I must get started on my essay for college as I'm not going out today .<<hugs to those in need>>
Cheers to the rest of you, pork fillet rolled in stuffing, with cabbage and parsnips and roasties for dinner tonight

  • Briefly on here clutching at small straws of sanity before going in to find out what little bear has been up to.

Also he is now demanding (first time in a year) day time bottles? Any suggestions?

  • To everyone who sent hugs and love after my messages yesterday, THANK-YOU! I read them this morning, cos true to form, no sooner had I posted my message, the puter froze and then I was offline for the rest of the day. I cannot tell you how touched I am by it all and really believe all the prayers and positive thoughts reach him.

I haven't heard from Tristan since I posted - not even an email. I did try and ring (7 hr time difference is a pain) but the line was busy. I won't think the worst, I know he is stubborn enough to get through this and get stronger and have the op he needs once he had got rid of the virus that was affecting his heart.

Today I am living on borrowed time with the puter. We have downloaded Avast anti virus software and it seems to have worked far better than the other two we tried. However, the puter is still freezing and forcing us to reboot, though at least it does log in relatively quickly now. The OH is doing a re install of IE this afternoon to see if that helps.

Going to go back and read the two days threads and come back - 'puter allowing..

    Gentle hugs to everyone
