ordered my Sony 32" on morning of Thu 2nd March and had tv del yday. Was just a little suprised to be honest.
Now im just waiting for Freemans to refund me 20% of the £1100 and money to show up in quidco!
All in all, a very nice tv
Did you pay for yours by credit card or did you open a credit account with Freemans. On another forum there was someone complaining that Freemans have told him the discount only applies to new credit accounts and if you pay by credit or debit card you don't get the discount.0 -
One amtrak card on my mat this morning....
Also - and this is quite funny - a letter from freemans advising that my card was declined and they were cancelling my order....This is only funny because i've been ringing them since the 20th to get the to change my card over (old one expired while i was waiting for delivery) and NOBODY mentioned it had been tried / deleted.
Anyway, nothing on the statement yet. And i've got a telly. Jackpot.0 -

I paid by card and can confirm my discount was removed before they tried to charge (cos my letter saying declined shows the discounted amount)
Hope this helps0 -
I phoned up Freemans today to see what limit they gave me for sighning up for an account, they told me I have a £200 limit and that is the max limit you can get for a new Customer and so therefore she told me that I can only get 20% off anything up to £200. I had an order placed for a 32inch Samsung LCD but she cancelled it because she told me that I would be chrged full price if I left it or they would just automatically cancel the order. So is there no way I can get this tv for £720 like most people have done, looks like Freemans have locked onto this and shut it down0

Freemans are at it. I have had a look on their website and they appear to be making up the rules to suit as they go along.
According to their FAQ section:
"How do I claim my 20% discount off my first order with you?
Welcome to Freemans. To help kick-start your shopping, we’d like to offer you 20% off your first order with us. Make a note of the Offer code before you start shopping, and remember to enter in the box provided on the shopping bag page. This offer is only valid for new customers spending £40 or more in a single transaction with Freemans."
There is no mention of the discount only applying to customers opening a credit account with them.0 -

I bought the SONY @ £1099 - less 20% @ £880
I chose the option to pay later as i did not want the £1099 taken from my debit card and then wait for a refund of 20%
I had a call saying that a new account has a credit limit of £500, not £200 and if i wanted to pay the £380 by other means i could have the £500 on interest free credit, which i did and have been told it will be delivered by end of weekdonstermonster0 -
Incidently, I am not going to phone up to enquire about discounts etc. I am going to wait to see if my TV turns up and then phone them if they have charged me full price. If they don't take off the discount, I'll tell them to come and collect it and stick it where the sun don't shine. I think there's more chance of them relenting and giving the discount this way and even if they don't, it gives them hassle for mucking me about.0

I would ring them up again and tell them you want to open an account and are willing to pay the difference by credit/debit card . Most cataloque companys allow you to do that even with a ist order. Unless they have caught on that too many ppl are only using the discount for the tvs but i doubt it.
As for the discount not showing up, just ring them up and query it and simply dont pay the remainig £200 untill they take it off. That what i did when i ordered a tv a while back.0 -
There is no mention on the home page of their website about the 20% first order discount now, so I'm wondering if they have pulled it?0

I asked them at the time of the call that I will pay the difference but they only offered me 20% on the £200 which is my credit limit. The lady said that they have all been told not to accept discount codes for any orders over your credit limit. It's all a bit confusing really, I think I will place a new order on the option of pay it all now and enter the 20% code and see what happens, the lady said if I was to do that I would be charged full price but I will just send it back if that is the case0
