Ordered the 42 toshiba last tue paid £960 on card and put £500 on account which i have held for ages.

Just checked my invoice on line and i'm beging charged over £3600 as they have ordered me 2 tellys and 2 tellys have been sent out.

1 charged at the discount price of £1425
    and
1 charged at full price £1899

Freemans told me to just cancell the 2nd order when it arrives.
Now a 42 inch toshiba isn't going to be that small is it.

    freemans are joke.

And i've had my account for over 5 years.

Is "finding a code on the net" legit?

We ordered ours via the interest free route. We don't currently have an account with Freeman's so used the 20% off plus Quidco. Just got home to find a credit agreement to sign. So looks like they are planning to go ahead.

Fingers crossed still though - I won't believe it until it actually arrives!

I'm concerned you even need to ask that question...

    No, it isn't.

The codes that are posted are usually from mail shots or email shots to current / prospective customers. They are not locked to individual accounts BUT the company in question can at any time ask to see your letter / email etc. Always best to do it properly when its a high value order, especially when the difference is only 5% (which quidco give u anyway!)

It will, i'm doubtful that they are even making a loss on it (despite what they claim).
  • Hmm I have placed an order for the 32" version via the interest free route also.

I take it that if they send a credit agreement and I dont find it favourable I can just cancel the order rip up the agreement?

Kinda new to all this finance stuff :)

I did assume that it wasn't, though not illegal I guess

Fraud so technically yes... Purchase of goods by deception.
You are using a voucher you were not sent. Companies generally don't get too shirty about it though unless you take the micky.

why is it people wave the trading standards banner when they don't get a deal they aren't entitled to?

you are going to need to prove that you were entitled to the discount voucher, probably by providing the email which they sent it to you in. this will of course (if you had it) have an expiry date.

all because you were greedy, you could have gone for the 20% new customer route (and if you did they have no legal leg to stand on, i hardly needed to argue to get mine resolved) and all would be solved. If you weren't greedy and did use the 20% then just ring them and point them in the direction of their FAQ. The terms for the voucher are in there, no maximum spend is listed and no mention of having to set up an account.

    Well said,

All these people shouting about wrong doing ! After all is said we are the ones trying to rip off Freemans.

To set the record striaght I to tried to order a 32 " TV using the 25 % code but initially the Freemans site would not accept the code but said that the code had expired. After reading this forum I learnt how to make the code go thorugh. This I did and to all intents and purposes Freemans accepted my order with the 25 % code. (But bear in mind I had to frig the system to get to this point)

How then have I (or any of you ?) any grounds for complaint when Freemans cancelled my order (as it was, it was me that cancelled the order and re ordered with the 20 % code for new customers) but like the rest of you they would have cancelled the order had I not done so. Can you blame them ? They are there to run a business, I dont disagree with the saying "Big businesses are fair game" but once you get caught stop whinging and get over it.

Freemans have made mistakes in the way they have dealt with this but I can only immagine that under the pressure and quantity of the masses trying to rip them off and then vocariously complain about being treated bad they must have been under an enormours pressure.

I am now very happy and am waiting for the delivery of my new 32" lcd tv from Freemans. OK at only 20% discount but none the less a lot of TV for not a lot of money.

Some you win others you loose. Thats Life !! But lets stop playing at being victims. The only victim in this thread is the share holders or owners of Freemans
  • I had ordered the 26" using the 25% discount code and later received confirmation email stating that the price was £599.

However, I received a letter from Freemans this morning saying that the order was delayed due to problems with stock but the price was £450! Fantastic! Just hope I actually get it.
Hopeless by name, hopeless by nature.
