    Good morning

Have just moved in to a new flat and am looking at getting broadband.
We will probably be fairly light users, and my pc isn't a rocket so not really concerned about the speed (as long as it's better than dial up).
Getting the bt line connected in a few weeks, caan anyone suggest what the cheapest option would be overall including line rental etc? Phone package would be helpful but not essential if it costs a lot more.
Also I'm no computer wizard so complicated installations are a no no!

    Cheers

I saw an advert from Tiscali saying they were reducing their charge to £12.99 a month. Don't know anything about their service though.

One company to really look at is Plusnet. They have just been voted top ISP for customer satisfaction. They have a starter package on broadband for £9.99 but a better one is priced at £14.99 which also includes some free phone calls.

Before you decide which ISP to sign up with check them out at:

where you will get an unbiased view of all the ISPs.

That has got to be a joke! Where were they voted for this award?

Have a look at the Plusnet forum to see what users of this service are saying. There are not a lot of happy people there!

  • Has anybody checked out Sky Broadband?

We are curently looking into bundling our internet/phone service at home.

Every comparision site I look at does not mention Sky Broadband, yet it appears to be significantly cheaper than the likes of BT, Talk Talk et al.

We have been with PIPEX for some years now and have always got a good service, however our recent investigations have identifed a monthly saving of £15/month based upon the SKY Max package (heavy usage) including unlimited anytime UK calls.

I am missing something or is it because the offer is so new?

    Would appreciate comments

I've looked at the forum and this is not untypical of what you will find on similar ones for most ISPs. As for the survey I mentioned it was carried out by uSwitch which is a site for comparing service and price of various companies.

So if they are tops for customer service. Why do they have one of the lowest ratings for this on the compare pages of ADSLGuide? They are certainly not in the same league as a top quality service like Zen, their score is more equivalent to Tiscali (one of the most complained about ISPs in the UK)

I have just been to the asdlguide-compare and looked at Plusnet along with AOL, BT, Eclipse, Pipex, Talk Talk, and Tiscali. This represents a good select

Plusnet rate favourably with all the other ISPs I've mentioned over the past 5 months. Yes, Zen is a good ISP and well rated. The original question was about monthly cost and I think Zen has a starting price of £21. You'd expect something a little better for that. most of the others are around £12-15 per month.
