That's a good idea Trillionaire, and we're thinking along those lines too. We didn't actually view most of them, as they were (still) so far out of our range (and to be honest, we probably have another 6-12 months to wait until someone is prepared to take the plunge). We did see one that we liked, but the agent made it clear that they wouldn't accept less than their "offers over" price. Since they got no interest they apparently rented it out to a film company instead, for 6 months - will be interesting to see what happens when that lease is up in the spring...
The agent we've made our offer through has proposed to write to others with similar properties, telling them that he has a cash buyer - who knows, that may yield something too.0 -

Why dont you do this if you a spare 10 mins and £3.00. Get the copy of the deeds from land registry online. Then go to the agent/seller and ask them how long they have owned the property for......
Then when they have lied through thier back teeth show them your evidence and make them feel very small!
Is there an advantage to actually getting a copy of the deeds, given that we've already got evidence from rightmove that the house was last sold in 2004, and for how much? DH already pointed this out to the EA when he made our offer, which hopefully made him feel a bit dumb at least...0 -
well if u have already done it...For everthing else there's mastercard.
For clampers there's Barclaycard.0 -

Well, we didn't pay for a copy of the deeds, just checked sold prices on Rightmove, which is free. We've been keeping an eye on this road (and a couple of others) for a while.0 -
plus it would have shown if they was mortgage free and again lying through thier teeth...For everthing else there's mastercard.

Had a offer of 1/2 asking price turned down. Believe that the asking price is at least 20K over priced but, that's not my problem.
Seller is Persimmion who took the house as a P/X last year.
EA let me know on Sat and advised me to think about it for a week and consider upping my offer.
Original offer sits, and will do untill they sell it or i buy somewhere else..0 -

Probably not. I have a mortgage but it doesn't show on my land reg docs. I've also seen plenty of LR docs with mortgage companies still shown, despite the fact that the debt was paid off years ago.0 -
What did it sell for in 2004? The price should be on Rightmove. My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0
