Tesco Energy Saving Lightbulbs 5 for 40p

I tried to buy these today but was told the offer is only on 11w bulbs, my purchase went through the till at 98p each. I'm sick of trying to sort out Tesco offers, I think they rely on people not checking receipts.
What??? That's awful. I got ten 20W (100W equivalent, the only ones I will buy - too dim otherwise) for 29p with the VAT discount. Check the sign - if it says all energy saving sticks, go and get them again - if they charge you more, go to CS and get a DTD refund! :beer:Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

If you have standard light shades these bulbs are of no use to you they will overlap the fitting and even if they don't they can be seen and they are horrible when will they make this type of fitting in a normal round bulb that fits practically anything when they do I will probably buy them but I bet they will not be 40p for 5
As mentioned earlier in the thread, Tesco have the mini spiral ones for £2, buy one get two free, so effectively 67p each. These come in a range of fittings including small Eddison screw. They are short enough to fit well within a normal shade, but are still visible. They are excellent for upward-facing shades, though.
Tesco also have globe shaped energy saving bulbs but they are £2.50 each at the moment.0 -
Has anyone been able to get hold of 5 of the small bayonet fitting stick/tube style ones ?
I've replaced most of the others in the house a combination of screw, small screw and bayonet, but the small bayonet don't seem to be stocked.
I've been to 4 Tescos (just happen to be passing)
If anyone can get hold of the small bayonet ones and would be willing to post them, I'd appreciate it0 -
Check your local Tesco with this offer.
I just tried to buy 35 bulbs as we always seem to have bulbs blowing, only to be told at the checkout it was 5 ONLY PER PERSON per lifetime!!, even though there were no signs up saying as such.
The spotty jumped up little assistant store manager told me that their policy was at the store front in a book somewhere!!
I said I would come back and buy 5 each day, and he reckons he will stop me entering the store by recording me on CCTV!
This was the Burnley store btw.
Tesco, every little helps? Hmmm0 -
I've had no problem with this offer, other than some of the bulbs seemingly being dumped on the wrong shelves - probably by customers.
The tip is to check the last few digits of the barcode and make sure it appears on one of the SELs, not every bulb is included in this deal.
I bought 10 the first time, I didn't even know the offer was on and genuinely needed five. Then a couple of days ago I figured I'd stock up and bought another 15 of various types (9w small screw, 9w bayonet and 20w bayonet). Both times they went through the till perfectly and nobody questioned the quantities, indeed the 2nd checkout girl told me that many people were doing the same thing.0 -
I notice my local Sainsbury's are now selling 5 for 50p (used to be 5 for £1).
I think they were all Philips 11W.0
