OOh, i would love some seeds please fay, don't mind what they are, but its very important to start growing my own this year. Read in the paper yesterday that we may no longer have many potatoes, carrots or onions left due to new pesticide rules they plan to bring in. Plus i think it would be nicer to be a little self sufficient.
Thanks re the funding, means i have funding for this course and then will apply for funding after april, nearer to the start of my next course in October, which will be my last course and after that, all being well, i will get my degree!!:j Live on £4500, £2531/£4500:T 101 in 1001 (52/101):j:beer::j

Is this secret fridge located in an evil genius hideout in the middle of a volcano by any chance?Head-Out-Of-Sand wrote: »- Bought milk & fresh veg & fruit and hidden in it my new SECRET fridge, mow-wah-hah-haaaaaaa

The only thing I haven't done is the washing, but I amn't too bothered about that. I'm really chuffed with my NSD though, and my shepherd's pie was awesome. I have enough left for me and the flatmate to both take some to work tomorrow. Yummy yummy. I bulked it out with peas, mushrooms, onion and carrots, put some cheese on top. I didn't make enough potato for the size of dish I put it in though. Still flipping tasty. Thanks for the recipe!
Now, who wants to teach me how to make chilli....?0 - [strike]Make lunch and take it to work with me[/strike] Nom nom nom

My yummy (if I do say so myself) chilli recipe...
Ingredients;
- 500g beef mince
- 2 tsp sunflower oil
- 1/2 a large onion, chopped
- 5-6 mushrooms, sliced
- tin kidney beans
- tin chopped tomatoes
- tbsp tomato puree
- 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp oregano
- pinch each cayenne pepper, paprika and black pepper
- 300ml beef stock
1. Brown beef in a frying pan. Drain excess fat/liquid & set aside.
2. Heat sunflower oil in frying pan & fry onions & mushrooms until softened. Add the garlic, cumin, paprika and cayenne pepper. Return meat to the frying pan.
3. Stir the flavours through the meat before adding the tomato puree, kidney beans and tinned tomatoes. Add black pepper to taste.
4. Add the beef stock & bring to the boil.
5. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
If you like, you can transfer the chilli to heatproof dish & continue to cook on a low heat for 1 1/2 hours (I find this lets the flavours deepen nicely). It freezes well too, which is a bonus.
I normally serve it with plain white rice & a bit of cheese on top, or on a spud, but if I'm showing off I serve it with tortilla chips & sour cream mmmm
Hope you enjoy it!
