OK - kettle's on!
Totally on-topic question:
Where can I buy those sheet things you put at the bottom of the oven to catch the stuff that falls? I really don't want silicon ones as I have silicon baking mats and the smell of cooking silicon makes me feel ill (they're new, only used them twice). Are these mat things a) easy to come buy and b) cheap? I preferably need something I can buy online as I never go shopping!

I have a baking sheet the same size as an oven shelf, and just use that (saves buying anything). Or you could just use foil.

Evening everyone.
I'm tired - two late nights in a row are not good for me. I must have an early night tonight.
Greenbee and Pigpen - thanks - I've a nasty feeling it's not the guttering! It's wet again this evening rather than slightly damp as it was this morning. I've added a pic below just in case there are any experts on here. The damp/wet bit is the darker coloured bit just above the skirting board
Triker - have you tried the charity and junk/'antique' shopts?
Hugs to the poorly ones - and Kazw and her Dad
ZLS - well done on the deal with the gas and elec
Christmasshopper - what a nice surprise about the carrier bag and the holiday!
Dusty, how you coping with DH away? Or is it next week he goes?
Carlsberggal - a different take on mash that I do is 'lightly crushed' potatoes. Prep and cook as for mash but instead of seriously mashing them, just lightly crush them with a bit of butter or olive oil and pop in the oven on a highish heat whilst cooking the rest - they come out with some texture and are really quite nice.
Dusty, and others- I'm saving the pleasure of the 1911 until the weekend otherwise I'll never get an early night!
Mudders - so sorry to hear about your cat.Big, big hugs. Hoping you get to keep her for a long time yet.
Gerturdeanna - the only thing to do in the case of a cooker not cleaned for that long, in my view, is start off non OS - Oven Pride is the ONLY way to go - you may need to do it twice but it really works and once the initial onslaught is done, you can keep on top of it with more OS methods.
Ok , I'm now off to do Pigpen's list and need to do the following too:- put BM on
- pcg subs
- pm Pink
- email em
- apply for OU course

Try an ordinary metal scourer. They're better than brillo pads.
Mudbath - sorry to hear about your cat ((((hugs)))
I use metal scourers too.
Hugs to you and !!!!! cat Mudbath.
Results of HHC (well actually I only did 20 mins):
Loaded DW.
Gave poorly DD a mug of soup and some crusty bread.
Mopped kitchen, bathroom, and hall floors.
Did a bit more colouring in with my super duper scratch repair pens.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.0 -
And here's the pic of the damp - the dark curvy bit above the skirting board... Any clues anyone?
I'll show pic to OH when he comes in (about 11, sorry) as he's an emergancy call-out plumber and sees stuff like this all the time. Hopefully he'll have an answer for you

Thanks, greenbee! They look nice, I may have to buy me some of that! I was off on a trail of thought just now about fashioning something from greaseproof paper, but decided it wouldn't work as I could only think of blu-tack to secure it and I don't think that's oven safe.
Sometimes I wonder if I should be afraid to go out on my own, having daft thoughts like that :rotfl:
ETA - I like the look of the lakeland one too, although I have rolls and rolls of ptfe tape lying around due to OHs job - I could just tape up the bottom of the oven!
I think all this cleaning (or, more likely the chemicals I've been using) have got to me lol"I married beneath me, all women do." - Nancy Astor 1879-1964

It looks like damp rising up from the floor to me.
I found out who left the goody bag with the holiday in. It was my neighbour. She had saved all the tokens and can't take the time off work. She thought we might be able to use it. :AFool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.0 -
Are you sure there isn't a pipe behind the skirting?
What does it look like outside?
It crossed my mind, too, but I don't think a pipe leak would look like that, plus the carpet would be damp there too (if it is, I'd move that lead in the photo sharp-ish).
I could however be very very wrong! I will ask him if he calls soon.

Evening all,
Been back from school for a little while. It was a school that one of my friends from my PGCE works in, and I thought it may be her who'd been sent home sick at first, but it wasn't so it was lovely catching up with her. Lessons weren't too taxing - they had to research the romans using books, and then they had gymnastics. I've still got a headache though and have developed a really sore throat, so glad I have tomorrow off.
Back to flying though, I'd stacked the last lot of washing up on the draining board before I left, and it was a foot high, and I'd just put it all away before OH got in. Typical! Still I didn't put the cutlery away, and he said that he'd planned to do the washing up tonight, so I told him he can do the remaining baking tray, and clean the hob as he boiled the dinner over last night. He's also got to wipe down the dining table and the kitchen worktops whilst he's at it, as I didn't get round to those either before I left.
Off to dinner at MIL's in a minute, so at least we won't have any more washing up to do tonight (apart from tea cups). Our new oven is being delivered between 7am-8.30am, so OH is going to do the 7am-7.45am slot, and I'm doing the rest if it hasn't turned up by then. That means I should have the rest of the day to book a doctor's appointment, and do lots of flying.
Sorry to hear about your puddy Mudbath - I was really hoping that it would be something less serious. How long before you find out whether it's operable etc? Keeping my fingers crossed that it'll all work out in the end. I don't know what I'd do if I lost our furbaby. When he got run over and he had to have his leg amputated, we didn't have insurance, and he cost me over £1000, but I was prepared to pay even more than that if they could save his leg. Big Hugs to you all!
