tbh I don't know, I didn't ask as I thought I had the answer to the problem by getting cccs to stop payment to them for one month. I can't imagine that it would take more than a couple of months though.

Lets hope it is just a couple of months i would suggest calling and asking but you dont want to risk getting someone who isnt going to listen to you as it just ends up either upsetting you or getting you in a rage.

I will be free in less than three years with a trust deed - my only option as debt management was taking too long :(

lol yeah I think I might just let sleeping dogs lie for the time being, I'm full of cold and feeling a bit pants, going back into battle with Halifax probably isn't the best idea right now.

    UPDATE

Well today I received an official default notice. So fingers crossed that means my account will be getting sent to a DCA soon.

It's really really threatening though, and even though I'm on a DMP it threatens things like court and losing my house (which I know can't happen as it's not a secured loan) They also demand I cut the card in half and return it to them......I cut it in half 2 years ago, at their request when I first went on the DMP (they didn't ask me to return it to them at that point though and its been expired for almost 18 months anyway  )

Anyone know what I do now, do I need to tell cccs or just wait for halifax to make the next move?

Hi I'm really sorry to but-in on your thread but we are in the process of setting up a DMP through CCCS and one of our creditors is a Halifax Credit Card, having read your posts i'm really concerned that anything we pay against this will be lost in a little over a year when they add charges back on. After the year is it possible to resume payment of the minimum monthly payment for instance or to make an extra bit of a payment to them on top of the CCCS payment to stop the extra charge? i'm trying to think ahead in that if ican squirrel a bit away over the next 12 months i will have something to play with when they come knocking (or calling) again? Do you know if this is possible or would i have to stop my DMP in full? Or would we be better of leaving it out of the DMP completely and keeping up with the minimum monthly repayment and more if possible? thanks

 I didn't realise Halifax were that bad! I have £500 on a Halifax visa card and a £3000 bank account overdraft with them as part of my debts. Looks like I'll have 'fun' with them when the DMP kicks in :(

oh hell, we have a credit card with halifax of roughly 2500, and a overdraft of nearly 4000, look slike we going to have fun, CCCS point blank said they couldnt help us as we have no money for debt payments at mo. so we pinged letters off to creditors with £1 token payment and usual letter.

we have just opened up another bank for my OH's wages as i have heard they can just help themselves.

i feel sick each morning when the post comes now.

    simple answer is no :(

When you are on DMP you have to be "seen" as treating all you creditors equally, so if you did manage to save some money (which would be seen as a bad thing anyway as you are supposed to be already be using all and any extras in you DMP) that extra has to be split between them all. You can't "favour" one above the rest. If you do the rest can then refuse to deal with you and push for bankruptcy......not sure how often that happens but CCCS told me it was a real possibility :(
  • due to ill health I have recently found myself in a similiar position. having a well paid job, although not having much in the line of savings, we lived a comfortable life. I have ended up with a debt managment company (with them for 5 months now, but MBNA are still sending threatening letters and phone calls despite being told numerous times the contact details of the DMP. The DMP have an agreement with them to pay a certain amount every month which they apparently accepted, yet this morning I opened a letter which said they are considering putting a charge on my home. the tactics they have employed have been unbelievable. I was informed by the DMP because of the stress of the letters ect., not to open them put post them straight to them. However, I have received letters in pink envelopes, white envelopes, disguised cards and therefore open them unsuspecting that they are from MBNA. Two days ago I received an e mail from them (I dont know how they got that address). The DMP did send them a letter outlining they were harrassing me, but nothing seems to have changed. I have debts with egg and barclays and they have been brilliant and I have received nothing from the first month. One of the things that MBNA keep saying is that they will help my debt management if I take out a secured loan - which I refuse to do, hence I believe is the reason for the harrasment. Has anyone else dealt with a similiar situation?
    Did: 5/9/17. Total repaid £70000!!!!!:T
    Mortgage 1/9/2017 34000:eek:

Flatbroke I had the same problem with MBNA offering me a secured loan and refusing a dmp (I'm doing my own). Obviously I declined their "kind" offer and said that i would use this offer as evidence in any legal proceedings they may start - they accepted my dmp payments, froze interest etc a few days later and I haven't heard from them since (25 months ago).
Halifax were okay with me but since December have started charging interest again; not answered 5 registered post letters all of which have been delivered and signed for so I've made a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
