At my wits end with Halifax......UPDATED (and advice wanted)

Thanks for that Looby
I just think maybe we should have never even bothered with CCCS in the first place and just not bothered paying. It can't be any worse with the bombardment of crappy scary threatening letters we have had to deal with since we set up our plan over 6 months ago. Our debt has increased by at least a few thousand since too.
Refusal to pay I think would have resulted in either passed to a DCA quicker or go for ccj, although I'm sure it would be passed to a DCA first to deal with but at least interest and charges would have stopped.
It's very disheartening and when you are at your lowest ebb already with job worries, cost of living, dealing with your LBM then this feels like the last straw when you are trying to sort your finances out despite writing numerous letters to the creditors to explain your situation.
CCCS have been great by the way but you do wonder if it pays to be honest sometimes? I mean like try to sort yourself out because you are worried about court action rather than think 'who cares' and wait for them to raise a ccj against youDMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -
We have our own DMP as CCCS gave us bad advice and its been the best thing we ever did. We have no ccj issued, some threats but nothing too bad.
Halifax are our last creditor and the only one I don't care if they get paid. When a company phones the hospital to check someone is there and demands to speak to them they lose all respect. Of course they deny doing it but I remind them on the rare occasion they decide to phone.Barclaycard 3800

Hiya BH, I remember when you posted about that, disgraceful doesn't even begin to cover it.
How did you go about doing your own DMP, did you just carry on when cccs left off or did you have to renegotiate with all your creditors?0 -
Sorry to hear you're having so many problems with Halifax on your DMP, we haven't had too many problems except them dragging their feet.
We had 12 months on a payment plan, then about 11 months before they passed it over and B,O and S have been fine too.
Yes they've nearly doubled what we owe in charges - but the way I see it is you can still claim back credit card charges so we'll be asking for them back one day and then we'll be even.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

If the creditors have already agreed payments I see no reason why they would change now. In the future when reviews come up you will have to do it yourself but most only require a copy of your SOA to prove you are paying what you can afford. Stopping a creditor charging interest will do wonders for your debt free date and boost your confidence at the same time.Barclaycard 3800

Hellifax have been a nightmare with me since the start of my dmp in January last year. They never accepted my dmp or froze interest so my debt with them is rising and not reducing. They used to ring me from 8am until 9pm every hour on my landline, mobile and work phone. I wrote them the telephone harrassment letter and they have got better - only one call a day now from them!!!
The annoying thing is, when I spoke to them last year, they wanted an extra £2.00 per month to accept my dmp - not much, and in other circumstances, I'd do it, but as I'm on a dmp and have to treat all creditors fairly, it would mean finding almost £100 pm to give them their £2.00, which I can't do.
I offered them a f&f in September as I wanted rid of them - they said they only accept f&f's if people are in financial hardship....erm...I'm on a dmp and making reduced payments...doesn't that show financial hardship??? Numpties!!!
They've still not passed my debt to a DCA which I am waiting for them to do.
Good luck with them.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

oh my god that is awful:mad: sometimes my debt panics me..... EVEN after 4 years or so.
I will be free in less than three years with a trust deed - my only option as debt management was taking too long0 -

hi did you manage to get something sorted with getting the interest reduced
i pay them £63 a month and to them this still isnt enough
i just want it passed to a DCA as my DMC say they are so much easier to work with and will accept the payments without hassle.
sighs all we want is to be debt free yeah its ma fault im in this situation but im trying my hardest to pay this back but why cant the bank see this or the credit card should i say :mad: sometimes my debt panics me..... EVEN after 4 years or so.

A creditor can call on a Sunday. They can call as often as is appropriate, but 4 times a day is excessive in anyones book (except the DCA, obviously!)0
