At my wits end with Halifax......UPDATED (and advice wanted)

A creditor can call on a Sunday. They can call as often as is appropriate, but 4 times a day is excessive in anyones book (except the DCA, obviously!)
Excessive isn't the word for it. It's obscene.
Someone tells them they can't pay what they want at 9 AM so how the hell do they expect it to be any different at 12 PM, 3PM or 6PM.
I can just imagine it. "OK. I've just got in from work and I was paid partly in cash today so I can send you another tenner. However, it will mean me getting kicked off my DMP due to not treating all creditors equally and that will mean me going bankrupt. Are you OK with me going bankrupt Mr Halifax because that will mean that you can no longer phone me and also that you will only get a small fraction of what you want instead of getting it all eventually?"
What a bunch of !!!!!!.0 -

hi did you manage to get something sorted with getting the interest reduced
i pay them £63 a month and to them this still isnt enough
i just want it passed to a DCA as my DMC say they are so much easier to work with and will accept the payments without hassle.
sighs all we want is to be debt free yeah its ma fault im in this situation but im trying my hardest to pay this back but why cant the bank see this or the credit card should i say
I spoke to a really polite lady for a change who seemed to genuinely understand my problem and explained why my account hasn't been sent to a DCA yet, it has to get at least 6 months worth of payments in arrears, but because I am paying more than a token payment it's taken over a year to get to the amount needed to be considered 6 months behind. Basically my best bet would have not to be responsible and just not pay for a couple of months before going on the DMP  She advised me to do exactly what some posters her have advised, to contact cccs to ask them to make only token payments just for a month as I am only £5.06 off the amount to take my account into 6 months arrears.
She also said I had the right to have both my phone numbers removed from the system which she has now done for me :j:j:j. Though I bet that still doesn't stop the calls, they'll have it recorded somewhere else on some other system.
I tried to get in touch with cccs today but kept getting the "our advisor's are all busy" message (suppose mondays just after christmas will be one of their busiest times) so I'll try again tomorrow and if I can't I'll email them.0 -
lets hope the numbers are removed and you get no more phone calls
you get to hate the fone ringing and if my house fone goes i dont answer it till iv done 1471 as some days i just dont have the fight in me
6 months eh well im at least that i was two months non payment when i set this dmp up then iv been since April 08 getting arrears added to the account do iv got to be past the 6 months but god knows
glad you got someone who was actually willing to listen to you its half the battle to be honest.
can i ask without sounding nosey what your total arrears are i think mine is around £650 cant remember exact figure:mad: sometimes my debt panics me..... EVEN after 4 years or so.

my arrears are about £260, but the way they work it out is as a percentage of the total amount you owe, I owe just over £1,550 now, I started at about £1, 250 :rolleyes::rolleyes:0

i started at £7,400 and now im over £8K cant be long for me:mad: sometimes my debt panics me..... EVEN after 4 years or so.

the news itself has depressed me with all these jobs being cut
my DMC told me last week that 2008 has been their busiest year as people just cannot afford life:mad: sometimes my debt panics me..... EVEN after 4 years or so.

Hi guys just wanted to let you know I called CCCS tonight. I told advisor I wasn't happy Halifax had begun charging reduced rate of interest as we would be only paying off a fiver a month from £40!! I asked if they could remove Halifax from the list so I could pay £1 or nothing until they pass on to a DCA, ccj or stop interest altogether and she said 'NO' you would have to all your creditors on yourself, there is not much you can do' 'have you thought about bankruptcy'?
!!!!!!!! If we wanted to go bankrupt we wouldn't have bothered paying you lot for the past 7 months would we? (obviously I didn't say this BUT come on???)
We are in the process of waiting to hear back from a few of our creditors regarding ppi, if its a success we are looking at refunds of over £15,000+ I reckon so bankruptcy is not an option and a refund to the debt would bring our total debt down to a not so shameful amount.
All she said was she could write to Halifax on our behalf and try to get them to stop the interest, usually they only stop it for a temporary measure but we will never be able to pay them at the full rate again due to OH job situation.
So what do I do?OH said to keep with CCCS for the time being as he can't be arsed with the hassle of it all and I don't mean to slate CCCS but I really wanted them to offer real honest advice on what to do for the best. I wanted her to say 'look if you are not that bothered about ccj's then do it yourself they will pass it on quicker to the DCA' but she didn't just kept saying 'what about bankruptcy?' like it was the only thing left for us to do.
I owe £10k, I work and so does OH so how the hell can we go bankrupt? The creditors would still require us to pay something each month for 1 or 3 years (can't remember which) so whats the point of having to sell my car, my laptop, having your name in the paper for what???? What would we gain? We'd still be paying!!!     I don't want a quick way out, I want the bloody creditors to stop being greedy!!!
So I have decided I will write to Halifax to explain if they continue to charge reduce rate of interest then I will have to reconsider the offer of payment as my debt will increase and will never pay debt off.
We have our review in March, if they still charge interest next month then I'm taking it all on myself. I can't be arsed with this !!!! seriously, it's our bloody money and I'm not wasting OUR time wasting OUR money waiting for creditors to decide to pass it over or sell it on when its maximum debt. We started off with a debt to Halifax for about £6600 it is now £7300, its disgraceful and shouldn't be allowed when you are struggling to pay what you owe already.
CCCS said there is nothing you can do, you wanna bet? They will get sod all if they keep adding interest and we'll just offer a fair payment when it goes for a ccj or gets passed on.
I am so annoyed!! I wish I could swear!! :mad:DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -
go on swear
i dont see halifax freezing interest if they have done this before. I have a note on my DMC account from a Halifax advisor saying they only so this as a one off and they cannot freeze interest again and this is why im now on a reduced rate of interest. I think i pay around £30 a month now it was more than double this before.
creditors know fine we cannot pay this so i dont see the point of lugging more and more on to the accoung threaten us through phone calls hitting us with big words and then if anyone is like me i end up a nervous wreck thinking oh !!!! im off to court bye bye. Taking me to court wont mean i can pay them more cos if i could then i would be bloody well doing that (im swearing for you)
What is the answer really we bust a gut to get out a mess and these mean %$%!!!!!!!!*&*^&^%^$b refuse to listen. for every nice person you get there are a hundred nasty ones just getting ready to call you.
see mags is on her high horse now.
I dont think they quite get your getting what we can afford you mean B's
im in the same situation i had got my debt down and now its higher than it was mine started about £7400 got it down and now its up over £8k i mean HELP maybe they want blood but they aint getting mine they can sing for it.
sighs oh go on call me halifax im right in the mood for you:mad: sometimes my debt panics me..... EVEN after 4 years or so.
