You are now aware that my computer skills are poor and my computer poorer.
sutton went with delta from manchester cost a fortune(5k+) but worth it .
As for tips work out about 15% for cabbies /waitress/hotel staff etc but i think they should offer a good service and not just expect to be tipped as for toilet attendants unless SHE whipped it out give it good shake and popped it back (then washed her hands) i just ignore as i do everywhere. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
I wish i found this thread when I went to New York last year, I so love it and want to go back0

Greenface I just snorted half my dinner across the screen at your 'whipping out' comment!
Ah yes, tip taxi's too.0 -
Actually on the subject of tipping...
My NY friends insist the only way to tip is to move the decimal point and double it - which means they are tipping a huge 20% - eeeeek!!! The only time they didnt do that was one resturant where the service was terrible...
Apparently its the 'done' thing in NY to tip slightly more, although in bars you tip the first time very well and much less the other times - which is fine when you are staying all night but not so good for bar hopping!0 -
20% is about right and that method works thjats about what i do but measure down to the closest 00 ie meal for 2 =$85 so 20% = $17 add them together $102 i would give them $100 if the service was good.Tips are often their only wage and they are taxed on them too. I dont agree to a "service charge" of 12.5% included which is happening more and more in this country on friday we had a nice meal in the smoke and they had a cover charge per person of £2 and a service charge included of 12.5% the cover charge was for the bread roll on the table and the cloth knives forks etc. I told them they should have said and i would have brought my own. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
