  • Oh you know what we need? Someone to have a house in NY off here that we can rent out for a few days when we go over!

Leeds - I dont how upmarket you like but you could try Chelsea Star - they do shared dorms rooms - I'm sure you could get a single sex dorm and meet some other girlys to go out with :D

Just realised I wont be able to go out in September - since its a month before Venice marathon and I'll be up to running 70 or so miles a week then and couldnt afford to lose the training days to jet lag :(

So I'm going to try and go in April and then again post Marathon late October I think :D

As long as its clean, comfortable and with a clean bathroom I really don't mind.
Becky, ill kick you out of bed at 5am and you can go jogging (and pick up bagels and coffee, obviously).

erm.. the unfortunate thing with NYC, and most "holiday rentals" is that they actually are illegal. Terms of rentals in NYC are extremley strict, and even though the property exists, and you get it (if you're lucky), it is still illegal!!

    plan b maybe!

and a work visa.. wooah.. i can only dream!
  • Yeah they are a total nightmare but want to look into it, even if its for a few days of work

It was minus 4 and freezing outside we had walked since early morning after the flight the day before. We walked into the heat and rich coffee smell sat down and almost cryed with relief.
Whereas when we went in August we were walking into places and almost crying with relief from the heat! :rotfl: ie with relief that it was COOL inside whereas it was 'orribly 'ot and 'umid outside!

Suggestions to improve NY: fewer people, less extreme climate, and DH would probably say more bookshops! :rotfl:

I have nothing to say about improving it. Its perfect, with all its flaws, may it never change. :D Though I wouldn't go in July or August though...thats all. :D

I remember a few years back I went to NYC in the middle of the summer. I got to the airport and it was hot, then after I checked in to the hotel I went for a walk down into the city, and I thought I was going to pass out :) So hot and then all those cars and the heat just staying in between the buildings.. But soon got used to it again after a few days :)
