    How does this sound:
    August 2nd - August 8th 2010 = 6 nights
    FLIGHT: £525 return per person
HOTEL: £350 per person (cosmopolitan hotel in soho)
    TOTAL: £875 per person
It's cheaper than I thought, and it looks quite good so may book it.

Very very hot and those flights are expensive! I wouldn't book any flights at the moment.

Eek! Just to reiterate what somebody said, it will be VERY hot - I went in August this year, 22-28th, and it was soooo hot. It wasnt impossible but I'd have definately preferred if it was slightly cooler...
Although it did rain one day, which was quite amusing as all the new yorkers seemed to panic and buy plastic ponchos when it was just spitting!
Its probably a bit early to start booking things - When I started planning mine, a year before I actually went, there werent a lot of flight options available.
What I'd probably reccomend is brush up on what you wanna do / where you wanna go, etc etc at the moment, so you can get a general idea of whereabouts you want to stay, and then in maybe six months time, check again and there will be MANY more flights, most of them probably cheaper!
I got my flight for £353, if that gives any indication of the right sort of price?

The past 2 years we have been in the last week of august and it was'nt un-bearable, and i dont like hot weather, just remember to drink loads and dress for the weather, only downside is the subway's are sweat boxes
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right
  • Is that flight economy price? WOH NO!

crikey my flights in August were £435...and that was expensive!

and as been already stated you should be paying per room and not per person

I was there in a heatwave and it was lovely :)

Have decided to look at going in April instead for 6 nights. Better weather hopefully - not as hot.

It's our first time so think this seems like a reasonable amount of time - maybe too long? I've been obsessed with New York for about 20 years now (I'm only 25!).

So, leaving 6th April, coming back on the 12th April 2010.

FLIGHTS: £306 per person (United/Air Canada) - bargain I think?!
HOTEL: Cosmopolitan - $815 USD which is £486 pound (=£243 per person)

TOTAL = £306 + £243 = £549 for 6 nights in NYC in April. Surely that seems like an excellent price? May book it tonight.

good price and much better for first time in NYC . 6 nights is a good city break but not too long in NYC there is so much to do (even if its doing nothing ) which is always good .MSEs rave on about the COSMO and it always has a good write up for service cleaness and location so if your happy go for it. Enjoy your time chill and mingle day and night .On a serious note since my trip to NYC i cannot watch American T.V films set in New York without seeing where they are often missing the plot of the movie. Help !! + Is there some really good location set filmed around Manhattan that i need to check out. (seen bourne ultimatum) was in town when filming as matt (first names now) ran past us and into 42nd st port auth bus station but they must had more than one take because we werent in it. Prob because Mrs Face and Eldest Daughter Face were grinning like cheshire cat tourists.
