We'll leave the subway until the first day. I might even try to sort a Big Apple Greeter ... anyone met one before?
If you are gonna be in NY for a few days I would highly recommend getting a 7 day metro card as the individual trips soon rack up.
Nva had a BAG myself but know people who have and they come highly recommended, however their is no guarantee you will get one so if you know when you are going get on the site asap and request one.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
Hi, I've used my airmiles to take my daughter for her 18th birthday with Virgin to fly 2nd Dec to 6th Dec. Haven't sorted accomodation yet as we may be able to stay in employer's flat. If that's not available then I'll use my loyalty points to book the Holiday Inn on 5th Avenue I figure it's the best one for shopping which is what my dd is intent on doing.
I've been having a look on the ticketmaster.com website and am debating booking the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Has anyone been before? What's spectacular about it? I'd be very grateful for any opinions.0 -
Hi everyone!
Firstly, just to let you know that I've been checking Travel Supermarket for prices of flights from Heathrow to JFK in January every day for the last few weeks and today I managed to find flights on the dates I want (2nd til 7th Jan) for £228 with Kuwait Airways. I know it's fairly early to be booking for January, but if you're looking to fly around that time it might be worth checking them out. I wouldn't think they'd get much cheaper than that!
Secondly, I have no idea what Kuwait Airways are like and this is where I'd like some help! I've searched all the forum posts here but don't seem to be able to find any recent (2009) reviews of Kuwait Airways. I'm particularly interested in any feedback on Heathrow to JFK flights. I'm not bothered about the no alcohol thing or even broken seatback entertainment. Even a delay wouldn't bother me too much as long as it's mins/hours rather than days! I'd just like to make sure before I book that the flights aren't likely to be so bad that it ruins my holiday! The next best alternative (looking at flight times) would be a flight with Delta, so it would be interesting to find out how the two airlines compare.
Many thanks in advance!

never flew Kuwait so dont know any answers but that is a great flight price and in all seriousness LHR to JFK is a major flight for any airline so im sure the service and plane wont be too bad (i hope) great price and just out of interest have you tried to upgrade and how much more is that ?? hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Kuwait Air are dry - depends if you want to get in the "holiday spirit" before you land or not.0

23kg is the norm on transatlantic flights, and also you're only allowed £340 worth of goods/gifts on the way back.... if you educate the people that you can't bring back everything, and that they should go themselves, that is the easiest way...
me... i fly back to the UK tomorrow, currently I have $30 worth of stuff i'm bringing back, but I know that'll increase to about $150 (less than £100) as i'm going shopping in the morning!!!

Gosh you are being good! I would of spent well over that already! But I do that over here aswell as anywhere else.
Is there any chance of taking two suitcases?
Steph xx0 -
We upgraded on the way back which gave us an increased luggage allowance as well as extra legroom. But the checkin lady asked if I KNEW about the extra luggage as our suitcases were still so light. I had to tell her I'd not been allowed to go shopping - DS3 had a guitar, and DS2 had new swimming shorts (because he couldn't find his!) but no-one else had bought much.
I felt very hard done by, and still do, TBH. :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Some airlines do, some don't, let you take a second case.
Delta, and now Continental, will charge $50 for the second case... BA, afaik, don't charge, so you get to check in 2 cases for free.. .
