try Shulas steakhouse in times square for the finest tasting food. There is good and bad everywhere and some great restraunts in Piccadilli too in fairness. Not just burger bars and pizza joints . Singin waitress for all the razzle and dazzle actually serves fairly decent good grub. so over the top american but thats a little what we are looking for (me anyway)TFIs way down by south seaport serves huge portions of American and tex mex food was full of marines the day we were there.
There's a Shula's in Times Square??? Nooooooo, I loved that place in Chicago, thats my food budget gone for a burton!!0 -
There is an Irish Pub just off Times Square a few roads back from the Sports bar that does very nice food - we had the Irish Stew and it was lovely.
The A&F shop at South St Seaport is worth a visit just to look at the staff who had some of the most beautiful girls I have even seen working there.....the wife reckons the guys weren't bad either!!
We picked up some good bargains for my daughter there as it seems to be the discount shop.0 -
The food. It really did suck. Everything was either too salty, no flavour at all, or far to sweet. We went to Planet Hollywood for dinner. Not great but not bad value $50ish, for a burger each, side salad between us and 2 bottles of Corona each.
Woah! You complain that the food is bad here (actually, I've never eaten and felt sooo full as this trip, but you you wat at Planet Hollywood, and spend $25 on a burger, and a beer... I could have told you NUMEROUS different places to head to that you can get a burger an a beer for $15, and it would have been hell of a lot better.
Honestly.. food in NY is amazing, you just need to know where to find it, and avoid times square!
great trip report!

yeah, I'm having great fun... it's hot and humid here in NYC, so the aircon is on full to keep the hotel room cool when i'm in it, and on low when I'm not around to keep it nice...
Went to Yankees game last night, and enjoyed every minute of it, and we got a great win over the LA Angels so that was even better. Tickets I got for $155 (plus fees, making a total of $175) on stubhub (bought from season ticket holder!) should have actually been $275, as that's how much the guys next to me paid on ticketmaster!!!0 -
Also, it's not even 9am here, so I really should be thinking about beers... but I do know a pub is showing the Cricket which starts in half an hour... hmm... but no, i'm going to be sensible...0

I wouldnt worry - I suspect it will be rain affected anyway0

yup.. you're right.. i've just tuned into sky sports 1, and can see a grey Lords, though currently it is dry...
ok.. must get out of bed, and downstairs, to get showered and changed, then decide what to do!

We're in New York for six nights, we're spending a day down in Philly on the Saturday before flying down to Orlando for 10 nights on the following Tuesday.
Don't know if you're interested but Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band are playing at Madison Square Gardens on the 7th & 8th November, tickets go on sale on Ticketmaster on Friday, we're going to try and get tickets for the Sunday night. I'm already registered with the American site so hopefully we'll be lucky.
I'd have loved to see the Yankees but it's out of season. To see the Knicks you need to be a season ticket holder and i don't even understand American Football so i;m not bothered about the Giants - but it would have been nice to see where Jimmy Hoffa is buried before they demolish it!I'm excited too:D we decided to go late November for the christmas stuff being put up, hope it is, were only there for 3 nights, but it says that the xmas lights go up the day before/after thanksgiving so that should be the 25th or 27th.:T
What are prices for iPods like? On the official Apple US site they don't seem much cheaper, do shops sell them for less?0 -
The Knicks aren't the big ticket they used to be, they are not such a great team so i've heard on trip advisor (Marky may have mentioned it as well).we're hoping to catch a game while we're there.
I'm not an Apple person, i've got a Microsoft Zune that I bought in Chicago a couple of years ago which I love, today the new Zune HD comes out in the states and is a sexy looking beast. Might be looking at buying one of those in November.
You could have a look at this website http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/iPod-MP3-Players/ci/4259/N/4294542655 to have a look at prices for the ipods.
By the way Marky i'm enjoying your on site trip report on Trip Advisor at the moment.0
