I have to share an experience of mine that worked out great. We stood in cancellation line for Wicked at the start of July. We were 3rd in the queue and joined the queue about an hour before the show was due to start. About 5mins before the show started, we got 2 amazing seats in Orchestra section - about 8 rows from the stage. They were $110 each. The show was amazing and by far the best Broadway show I have seen in my years of visiting NY.
So if you're willing to risk it, join the cancellation queues for the big shows - if you aren't successful first night, go down again the next night. The guy that worked there said there is very good chances of getting tickets. Keep trying each night, and you are bound to get somewhere. If you don't then do the ticket booths during the day and spend your last night seeing the show.
But def worth a try if you are willing to queue and pay that price. Wicked gets sold out very quick, so if you are only there a few days and can't get normal tickets, then try the cancellation queue.0 -
Not a lot of people realise that there is a small TKTS at South Sea Seaport, nr Pier 17.
It does not have the amount of choice as the Broadway TKTS but there are no queues, so it might be worth a quick subway down there to check out what’s available!Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Oo I like that idea of Grand Central Station for a few cocktails.
The OH quite likes the 1920-30's New York type style. You know the type you see in the movies from back in those days.
Have you been in the foyer of the Chrysler Building? There is some really nice Art Deco, you can't go anywhere else within the building but worth a look if he likes 1920 - 30's.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

Oh I haven't been in there before, just admired from the outside. I'm sure the OH would enjoy it, she loves this sort of stuff. :T0 -

Kinda incorrect, as it is supposed to sell the same tickets, and also matinee tickets the day before (which TS doesn't)

I also cant recommend the Campbell apartment highly enough - its amazing
, its however not easy to find the door too (maybe its just me!)
They even used it in a Gossip Girl episode once
Also for glamour stakes try 230 Fifth (I think thats what its called) - go in the lift, skip though the weird black bar up the steps and outside - you get a dressing gown to keep warm on the roof0 -

It does not always have the full range of the tickets held at Broadway, know that from booking to see a show several years ago, had to get them at Broadway, the seller said they would not get tickets for the show we wanted, although the tickets are meant to come from the same pool.
It does (or did) open earlier than Broadway though.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

We always enter from the side of the station and you go straight in to an entrance where the cocktail bar is on the right and the left door goes into the station.
230 Fifth looks cool, thanks. I will have to try that.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

203 Fifth looks gorgeous!!! lol... How would it work with getting dinner there? I take it the restaurant is inside but in the warmer months you can eat inside?0 -
I got continental breakfast free on the room, I've never had one in my life! I'm a bit fussy tbh
I will just have to take some sweeties with me for the first morning
