Doesnt it just work as Maestro??
You do get charged a fee and a conversion fee though - surely its better to get the cahs out here and change it into $s
I was wondering that too... I've got £1000 for spending money, and I can get it all exchanged here for $1618, or I can get the fairfx card (reccomended by someone on here), and get $1630 on it... not sure which is best0 -
I would say $1630 is better than $1618 in fact I would say its $12 better to be preciseLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

Hi all!!!
I have been reading this thread all last night and all this morning.
Hoping to become a regular contributer here, everyone seems very nice and friendly , and funny too! And I love it!
Just returned from NYC there and had an amazing time. I have been quite a few times. I'm now planning a romantic valentines trip for the OH - it would also be our first anniversary of being engaged.
Looking at finding a lovely romantic restaurant for Valentines day itself. Checked out The View restaurant, and apart from the view itself, the reviews aren't too impressive.
I'm not sure what to do - whether it be a nice restaurant with a view, somewhere fancy (famous or whatever) or possibly a dinner cruise! I'm undecided, so you lot seem like the type that would know! Any ideas?! I've checked out a few threads and forums on eating out in NYC, but it would be nice to get a personal response, a chance to get to know people on here.
Thanks for reading (if you did that is)

1st off welcome to MSE.com
Its nice to see that despite being new you realise that most of the time we are just having a laugh and not taking the rise out of each other.
Soooooo food eh, well food is one of my favourite subjects, my other favourite subjects probably cant be mentioned on a public forum. I have just recently run across this website:
http://midtownlunch.com
I appreciate it specialises in lunch however it reviews loads of restaurants etc so who knows it may help.
My idea of romantic is a picnic down by southstreet over looking brooklyn bridge or in bryant park, or a shared sandwhich whilst watching the sun go down at the top of the rock, i guess its horses for courses.
Good luck in your search thoughLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
I LOVED the boat basin - very romantic but not posh at all - I wonder if its open in the winter...
Great views!0 -
Awh thanks guys. Having a look through that website now Phatbear. It would be useful too as i'm looking for a nice lunch that day too. I was reading a while back about Serendipity the cafe from the movie - my OH loves the movie and it would be a nice surprise if I could surprise her here one of the days. Is it still open?
I was looking at The Four Seasons and The Rainbow Room. It's hard estimating what prices would be for Vday 2010.
The Boat Basin looks qutie nice at sunset etc, nice and romantic. awh it's such a big city, so much choice I guess. Just need to look around, though any reviews, advice, tips from anyone on here for VDay is great!
I think I should contribute and do a review of my recent trip to NYC. I will do that soon.0 -
I have my NY friends over in August - I can ask them about V day prices if you want (they are married so assume they do dinner or something
)

Serendipity gets some shocking reviews, mainly about their waiting staff being so surly and un-attentive, and then theres the queues to get into the place, however the frozen hot chocolate is supposed to be the mutts dangly bits.
If you are into eating in "filmed" locations then you could try katz deli where they filmed "that" scene from when harry met sally, food is so so and its mega hectic but some people seem to like it.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0
