Oh I would love that as im going to have a heavy suitcase! x
yeah.. but you have to be sneaky, and when you get to Oregon and you're checking in, tell them you're checking in to Manchester, UK. Then show them both e-ticket receipts, and hopefully they should check you in for both flights..
also, that means that your international luggage allowance should be in effect for the short hop flight too!!!
however, you can't do much NYC shopping as you won't be able to check anything else back in at NYC!

hey, i'm going to NY for the first time in a month, feeling apprehensive about it at the moment- So would appreciate some help! As i really don't know what to do in the way of money/ eating / attractions / shopping...
a few questions i've got in my mind at the moment are...
Best places to eat for not too much would be great to know!
How much tourist attractions cost...?
if 'tours' are really worth doing? I really enjoy tours just don't know anything about NY tours (Sex and the city, NY city tours, boat tours etc)
If anyone has any suggestions for me while i'm there would be great too! thank you!

i'm just dashing out of the house, so i'm sure i'll come up with a much more coherent response later tonight after a beer, but.... with regards to food, omg.. you can eat for $10 or $1000 a day, it is easily up to you.
Depends on your location, but there are numerous deli's around, and all these serve great quality, but cheap food. some even let you eat in!
grab a tray, pile on the salad, chicken, noodles, you name it, it's all under heatlamps, or on ice (obviously salad!), and you take it to get weighed, and they charge you what you've put in the tray! this is probably the cheapest way to eat, and you can easily get a HUGE meal for around $10, even if you add on soup as a starter!
restaurants, another kettle of fish, but you can still eat for cheap.. and i'll give you some suggestions when i get back from the mundane task of doing the food shopping0 -
hi all,
Have searched for this but can't find anything....
I'm wanting to book the sex and the city tour here in the UK before we go to NY in 3 weeks as i've been told it's cheaper....
a) is it cheaper to book here?
b) where can i book it?
also for those who go and have been, is there any other sites/tours that are better to book here in the UK first?
thanks xx

I was going to do this tour - but I know on the old thread it was definitely mentioned a few times by people who had booked it and the guys didnt turn up and then claimed they did so the people who booked it couldnt get any money back...might be worth searching the old thread for which company it was - since there seems to be more than one that do the tour..0

Oh my god am in Oregon now and missing NY so much!
( I have also made myself really ill and I have no idea what from! I had snails at a french restaurant two nights ago and Oysters the day before, it could be that or the really small cramped hot plane we were on, either way, I have spent so much time in the toilet being sick. Airplane toilets are not fun to be sick in. I am never eating anything mollusc like again. If it swims in the sea or slides in the mud its not comming near me.
As for eating, (yuk!!!) like MM says, you can eat for loads, or go to the diners and eat there, breakfast wise we found that we didn't often eat lunch if we had the full on breakfast of bacon, pancakes etc as you get huge portions and that keeps you going pretty much all day.
Shopping wise it depends on what you want, I didn't rate macy's, I found the vintage shops so expensive compared to ones I have been to today in Oregon, BUT I did go to the Hells Kitchen market, it only had 3 stalls but from what I gathered its a huge event, it was snowing heavily the day we went so no wonder. Soho also has some good shops but I wasn't allowed to go in. I have a very MSE boyfriend:mad:0 -
there is so much more to NYC than shopping...0

oregon has such stunning locations and like a different world to the hustle and bustle of NYC if you are around the southern area try to get to Crater Lake. Area |and national park both breath taking and not too touristy which is a good thing . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
