Or these if you just want one or two. I bought the ebay set and love them so I'd agree with bargainbird.

I tried bamboo ones but personally didn't like them as they were too 'grippy'.

Alternatively head for the charity shops, my local one sells them for 45p each - they are the old fashioned grey ones but they do the job just the same!
Oh dear, here we go again.

I've got those aluminium ones that Bargainbird posted a link to. Love 'em! I also got a set of bamboo ones but found that although they felt smooth, the kept catching on the wool.

I just learned to crochet at the weekend and I bought myself those hooks last night :D

Now I need some help. When I crochet and turn, my rows are decreasing each time. What am I doing wrong? I tried a sqaure last night and it's more like a pyramid :o

That's exactly what happened to me, arkonite_babe! This may help.

So let's see if I got this, I need to chain a stitch every time I turn a row?

Arkonite-babe and Bunny82, I can see what you are doing wrong.

Ok, say you have a row of 10 doubles (dc). When you turn your work round to go back along the row you need to make 2 chains (this is called a turning chain and just gets your hook to the right height to do the next stitch) and then do your first double into the last double of the previous row.

I think what you are doing is making your turning chain immediately above the last stitch and doing your first stitch into the last-but-one, which is why your rows are getting shorter.

Hope this helps - if I've confused you more please feel free to ask!

  • Hmm, off to try another square.
Wish me luck as I'm not very good with wool yet, it splits too easy for my liking :o
