Hi Keza, welcome to the board
. You'll find loads of help and advice hereand plenty of admiration for your FOs so do post pics of your work, we always love to be inspired!
I love the granny flowers too but haven't got round to doing it yet. I don't think Lucy says how many balls she uses for a blanket so I guess it's just a case of buying some then buying more if you need it. She does give a list of the colours she uses for the hex blanket though (which look more or less the same) so in case you haven't seen it here it is:
"For this blanket, I am using Rowan Handknit DK Cotton. It should cost in the region of £3.50 per 50g ball in the UK. I am using 16 different colours, although the deep yellow I chose for the centres is now discontinued. And as I know you like specifics, these are the other 15 colours I'm using ::
215 (Rosso)
219 (Gooseberry)
239 (Ice Water)
254 (Bright Orange colour, now discontinued)
287 (Diana)
303 (Sugar)
309 (Celery)
313 (Slick)
314 (Decadent)
316 (Slippery)
318 (Seafarer)
324 (Bermuda)
327 (Aqua)
332 (Rose)
333 (Antique)
I'm crocheting on a 4mm hook, and the size of the finished hexagon as you can see above is roughly hand-sized. Each straight side measures 6cm, and about 11cm across between the points."
I love working with DK cotton as it's so smooth and pleasant to use but I buy the much cheaper, but equally nice and still 100% cotton, Patons version from here (you can get it anywhere but this is the cheapest I've found at £2.79 for 100g and free p&p if you order £20 worth). There are lots of very Attic24 type colours in the range.
Patons 100% cotton
Good luck with it, and do please post a pic!

Thank you Rosy Red. I am persevering! Does everyone find it this hard or is it just me. I can knit no problem. I seem to get my thread hook and hands in a mess!Started Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

How do you get your pics to be on the actual page, whereas others have links to theirs?
(and why have some of the smilies disappeared)
Have a look at post 357 on this thread which was an answer from pink_numbers to the same question asked by me. I've copied and pasted it below to save you the hunt!

Photography is not my forte as you can see - this was my seventh attempt and it's still rubbish!
I'm thinking I might line the bag to stop it from stretching too much.
Hope you like it!
Can't work out how to put the pic on my post rather than the flickr link - can anyone help please?
This is so pretty, I particularly love the yellow and the coral together. I also like the different shaped leaves
How to put in a photo from flickr
Step 1: On flickr, on your photo, if you click "All Sizes" (just above the photo), it will take you to a page where you can select different sizes.
Step 2: Click on "Medium" Which will take you to about the right size photo to put on this board.
Step 3: Now, if you scroll to the bottom of that page, there should be a box with a title "2. Grab the photo's URL:" (it's the second box)... copy what's in the box below this title... it will looks something like this: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4062/...d07aa20441.jpg
Step 4: Now come back to the MSE forum... Go to the "Quick Reply" box at the bottom of THIS page
Step 5: There should be lots of icons just above where you type... it has ones that look like B (for bold) a slanted I (for Italics), a U with an underline, and so on.
Step 6: Amongst those icons, there is a yellow-ish box, 7th one from the left... It's between an Earth with two link chains, and a speach bubble... see it? - it's suppose to have a mountain and a sun, but it's not the best image of them. Click on that icon
Step 7: Should bring up the box asking for the image URL. Paste the link into there...
Then you will get:
Does that make sense?
Also read the next few posts as some of us were a bit confused and further explanations followed.Oh dear, here we go again.0 -

I had a lot of misshapen pieces at first, they were meant to be flowers :rotfl:,but kept practising, and it seemed to click all at once.I am really slow thoughThe speed some of the ladies finish their projects, just fills me with admiration and awe. It'll probably take me a year to do my blanket, but I like doing it.
